Whoa. That is hardcore.... and on the money, too.

It makes me angry when I see people using their phones while driving.... cuz they are taking risks not only with their property and lives... but mine and everyone else on the road.

I can see to a degree using speakerphone or a handsfree unit to talk while in motion (though dialing the number while in motion is bad, doing it while at a stop is more or less ok)... but texting?

Thats just negligent and irresponsible.

Try driving down the motorway and seeing the car your overtaking being drove by a guy sat behind a laptop.... ... me and the wifey followed behind with OUR hazards on to warn everyone else... wifey made the call to the police as I was driving, next junction they swamped him (still on his laptop)...... and he didn't even notice until he nearly hit the police car in front! ..... .. ....

Might not have you beat, but it's on par; inthecorridors was almost whacked a couple of weeks ago by a cop who was texting while rolling down the center of one of the city's main streets. And I mean in the uniform, cruiser, and everything; attention totally on his thumbs.

And I bet he wonders why people hate him when he writes them tickets too!

checking Angie's info kk numbers, and discovering all her numbers were reset to 0 recently as her dragon kills went from 3K+ down to just 51

Setting up a old dinosaur of a pc for my girlfriend's mom and lil brother only to find the bios are corrupt and need to be fixed, then not having a floppy drive to load the fix to, grrrrrr.

If you have the users manual, or you know (or can read off the mainboard itself) the make and model of the mainboard.... you can go to the manufacturer's website and look for the "Restore to factory defaults" jumper. Just move or remove the jumper as instructed, and reboot the machine and all settings should be corrected.

EDIT: you will want to navigate the site to find the board model and then hopefully they will have screenshots of the board itself with various important parts highlighted/labelled... thats where you want to find the afore mentioned jumper.

Sometimes all you have to do on older boards is just remove the little CMOS battery and all the BIOS stuff will be erased. It should then reload the factory settings on reboot.

If the BIOS itself is stored in EEPROMS, and those eeproms have been somehow borked.... I hate to say it, but yer gonna need more than a floppy drive to fix it... usually you end up getting a new board in those situations.

addendum: after you move or remove the jumper in question, and reboot the machine to rest the BIOS settings.... be sure to power it down and put the jumper back where it was originally so that the corrected settings will persist.... otherwise the damn thing will reset itself with each reboot, and no changes you make after that will be saved on the next reboot

I'll take a look around, it's an old as dirt optiplex, hope it'll be a simple fix, just bought a router so they could get online without using my machine (and I got me a lil netbook, so I had ulterior motive, hehe)

Yeah old dell optiplex should have a reset jumper.... or you can pop out the CMOS battery for a minute and put it back in and see if that clears the settings....

I'll poke around and see if I can find anything on the jumper
