Too many trips to the Great Hall...
Hello, all!
Having spent my share of time in the great hall, I was wondering - - exactly what would that experience be for the PC? Would they remember clearly the circumstances of their death? The same with hall time - is it clearly remembered?
Would the death, the limbo, and the return to life be played out exactly as we see it? Or would these things be intentionally obscured by the passing of time? When I am in a conversation with another PC, would it be an appropriate discussion to have? Would my character still possess the knowledge of, say, having her brains sucked out by mind-flayers?
Am I making any sense at all? Sometimes words fail me!

Re: Too many trips to the Great Hall...
Let me add that I personally like having all the information relative to my PC's experiences - I prefer that what I see is what I get. That way, I can remember that to stand idly in mysterious caves is to invite brain-sucking!
A rather brutal, effective and necessary form of education, one supposes!

Re: Too many trips to the Great Hall...
In most cases, I would say that you remember both your death (unfortunately) and your time in the "almost" afterlife.
Although, I think dying due to your brain being eaten might qualify as an experience you might want to forget.

I consider it a character-building opportunity!

Re: Too many trips to the Great Hall...
Eaten, Imploded , burnt to a crisp, cooked by electricity, dissolved by acid, frozen like a popcicle, vibrated into goo, mashed like a potato, cleaved in twain, skewered like a shishkabob, rendered into stone and shattered, splattered by high speed impact with the ground, melted in liquid hot magma, and forced directly off the mortal coil by necromancy.
Wow... Crid's brain is somehow amazingly sane (mostly) and intelligent considering all the ways it has been abused and destroyed!

Re: Too many trips to the Great Hall...
I would view that death and a visit to the great hall would imply great emotional stress, but other than that, it would be a time difficult to remember, let alone comprehend (after all, not everyone revives constantly).
I'd say that it would be appropiate to roleplay a unpleasent disturbing drifting through a foggy stone masoned castle in which you drift endlessly listening and communing with the thoughts of other dead entities.
I'm not trying to make it sound that bad though, and anyone may interpret their view of the great hall of Zolaris differently. In regards to the revival... One may roleplay that the intervention of their deity may be the reason why they are 'rescued', that they heard a familiar voice that beckoned them to return. Others can roleplay that the drifting was momentary, and a brutally abrupt sensation awoke them (revival at a church?).
None-the-less this is interesting to ponder, and the three emoticons (beholder, illithid, zombie) are amazing.
