Do I need help?
Alright. I'll admit that I am a guilty leech. I sap from AD's Cosmos pretty frequently with little (or more honestly, nothing) to contribute. And I want to play but...
I'll admit that I'm addicted. My desktop is of the Aenea map. I check for new posts on the forum when I should be paying attention to C++ Data Structures while in class. I have several reams of discarded graph paper with character concepts cluttering many of the horizontal surfaces of my home.
It's 3:28 AM my time, the kids and wife are asleep, and I'm up for some troll killing. Alas, I cannot connect to the server.
If anything, this post is should be taken as a testament to how powerfully Aenea has ensnared me. I was about to call NWN quits when I discovered online play and this server (thanks to AD on another forum).

Heh, always something new to find with NWN. Aenea is certainly a big something new.

Re: Do I need help?
From what I have read about NWN2, I would very strongly dislike the implementation they used for certain important content... I have no intention to buy it... Aenea is continuing to improve, and as it is, it has already supplanted my WoW addiction... so I am pretty sure you are all stuck with me...

Re: Do I need help?
NWN2 unto itself isn't so bad. Truth be told, I rather like certain aspects of it over NWN1 (certain differences between the 3.0 and 3.5 d&d rulesets, some GUI changes like the quickcast menu, henchie control)
However, overall appeal, NWN1 wins hands down. It runs better, and NWN2 IMO doesn't look THAT much better for such a set of higher system requirements. The toolset is a bitch to use too (although it IS kinda nice being able to 'paint' outside areas rather than the tile-system).
NWN1 still has FAR more online life to it than NWN2. Someone posted some at the time stats from online play the other day on the bioboards... NWN1 had something like 600 servers running at the time, while nwn2 had not even half that.

Re: Do I need help?
No arguments here that in just about every way, 3.5 D&D > 3.0...
I love that AD has modded so much to make Aenea closer to PnP and in many cases 3.5 as opposed to 3.0.
Some of it, sure, we may be stuck with... but there is a bunch that AD has already fixed... and some that can still be improved.

Re: Do I need help?
The funny thing is...I play D&D 3e, not 3.5
I just build stuff in the Aenea PW the way I like, and I prefer my online D&D to be more like my PnP D&D.

Re: Do I need help?
that is funny
As for wanting the online to be like PnP... Huzzah! I say

Re: Do I need help?
I'm not so keen on the details of either system myself (I grew up on the original D&D, back when Elf was a class and race all in one), and never really latched onto "Advanced D&D" or any later implementation until NWN. THat being said though... I know 3.5 rules seem more 'natural' in certain ways, like bard proficiencies, sorcerer spell workings (at least how the NWN's implement them... in nwn1, a sorcerer can redo the entire spell book each level, in nwn2, you can switch an old spell, but only at a later level and if I recall, at the cost of learning a new one).... little things....
Hell, last time I table-top DMed, the house-rules I used were so altered from the handbooks, I probably could have published them as a whole new ruleset seperate from D&D itself Altered rules... um... rule!

Re: Do I need help?
Agreed. From the reviews I've seen for NWN2, I'll stick with NWN.
Aenea rules!
