What's this magical item do?

There are a variety of ways to figure out what a magical item does (i.e. get it identified).

The first is to add skill points to your Lore skill. This will save you money but use up valuable skill points.

The second is to become a wizard or bard. They can identify items several times a day and can even identify any item at higher levels.

You could also team up with a wizard or bard.

You can talk to certain merchants (such as Smitty or Darla), they can identify many items, for only 125 gp each.

You can also save up your gold coins and take 5,000 of them to an altar dedicated to Kalas (god of knowledge). That single donation will cause ALL of the items in your inventory to be identified.

Im kind of partial to the "team up with a Wizard" idea...

that could be because I play one.... but I have to say...
its one of my small joys to be able to help peeps ID their stuff.

It makes me feel like I did something worthwhile by keeping
lore maxxed out.

Heh...when i first started playing here I was shocked and thrilled at how many "magic" items I was finding on lowly kobolds and goblins. After spending the majority of my gold to identify a few mundane items that sold for around 4g each I was not so thrilled. Let's see...125g to identify this mundane dagger...2g return on the sale...I just made -123g! Wewt!

Needless to say I started dropping points into lore to avoid that particular scenario happening again.

I didn't know about the altar to Kalas though...any chance I could make that donation and get DM help refunding my lore points?
