County Fair Seasons Empty County Fair Seasons

Post by Lyme_gg on Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:19 pm

So me and the wife tending a booth at the county fair. Weather is awesome, food booths selling things from cotton candy to the rib sticking funnel cakes

last time I was at a fair was some 7 years ago. Actually attended the livestock auction and the horse puulin competitions. Today I wandered around and its funny to see how technology and the times have crept into a lot of what the events are too.

Anyone else have fun stories/memories of a county or any other such fair

Had a good time at the highland games in new hampshire with my ex...

The caber toss was eye-opening to say the least.

Jamming out with Clann an Drumma (scottish drumming/folk band) was pretty awesome too.

First time I ever had stew in a bread bowl, too.... mmmm, yummy Smile

Our county fair just ended, it has been way to hot here, we only went one night, to watch the rodeo. (what can I say, my wife likes cowboys - only the real article mind you, Sunset Strip wannabees needn't apply). Anyway, we skipped the horse show last Thursday, watched on Public Tele, was just too hot!

We used to tend the Kiwanis booth 4 or 5 nights but that is a game for young people, we tended the concession stand at Upwards Football last week for 2 hours and were wore out!

I still kind of miss my little hometown back in rural Wisconsin. Every July the town held a fair (a couple weeks before the country fair), with everything they could afford to have in a 4-day stretch (animal showings, crafts, baking competition, a small midway with games and rides, local-run food stands (mostly grilled stuff and beer), concerts (usually about 3/4 country County Fair Seasons Icon_rolleyes and 1/4 rock), tractor pull, and ending with a demolition derby.

Thinking about it sure makes me miss summers in a place that doesn't pass 100 degrees every day for months on end.
