Semi-Class idea

An idea for a semi-class: (If anyone has read The Painted Man by Peter V Brett you'll get the idea!!)

The Tattooed: The tattooed are group of devout monks who study the art of fighting evil. Always unarmed the tattooed have developed over many generations a series of runes which can be painted or tattooed onto the monks body to provide all manner of bonuses. The greatest of their order known as the Painted Man, is virtually covered in these runes, and often travels deep in the darkest depths of Aenea seeking out great evil to vanquish.

The idea comes from the book mentioned above, but i was thinking of some kind of system similar to the runes used:

Prerequisites: Monk Lvl 20+, weapon focus unarmed strike base WIS 20. Power points wisdom based, can be used to "charge" particular runes to greater power by channelling.
At each level can choose from a vairety of base runes which provide AC STR attack bonuses, magic defenses etc. THe power points are then used for temp further boosts to these runes. Not sure how if this would work but I am a big fan of monks so thought i'd put this out there for discussion.

Would you use the existing tattoos?
With the ability to boost the effects?

sounds good.
