New here. I like it so far
HI,
I'm new to Aenea and PWs in general. I've only spent a a few hours on a few other servers before I tried Aenea. So far this is the server that's intrigued me enough to come back for a second visit.
I did a little PnP D&D in college when I was a lot younger and have played a lot of D&D based CRPGs like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Ice Wind Dale, Planescape Torment etc.
I found myself bored with WoW, Oblivion etc and hankering after some old school RPGs that wern't all about flashy graphics and effects. That's when I discovered the NWN modding scene. That was a few months ago. I attempted several times to locate my old NWN platinum box set but gave up. Then a couple of weeks ago I heard the Diamond Collection was on GOG for peanuts and so here I am having bought the game twice now.
I'm playing through the OC on my PC at work during lunchbreaks to get my skills back up (Being an IT manager has it's perks ) and have been tinkering with mods and PWs at home.
I'm from the UK so I'm on GMT 0 but I've seen a couple of people about and they've been friendly enough. It seems like you have a really nice server and the world looks great from what I seen in game and read on the site and in the forums.
I should be back online this evening and probably sometime over the weekend too.
I hope to see you in game. Be gentle with me, my RP skills aren't what they used to be and even my NWN skills are a bit rusty but I'm sure I'll get there
Ian (AKA Jakarle Stormfoe)
PS Am I the only one that tries to press space to pause the action?

Welcome to Aenea, Proteus64/Ian/Jakarle Stormfoe.
I think you'll find that the players here are very helpful and have no problem with someone with rusty RP and NWN skills. Aenea is a pretty casual place to play, without a ton of rules.
As you've probably noticed already, Aenea has a lot of differences from the original game. Like no pausing the game by players. Ok, that one is pretty much universal with persistent worlds. Just explore and try things out, and you'll find your way. Probably to the Great Hall of Zolaras quite a few times, but in the rest of the world as well. There are a lot of options in this game.
Oh, one big thing that's different here...the game difficulty is set at "D&D Hardcore", which means that doing things like setting off a fireball spell at your own feet will hurt you.
I think you'll find that being from the UK isn't a bad thing as far as playing time goes. I've seen other players online at all hours of the day and night. I tend to stay up late myself, and will sometimes log in at odd hours throughout the day.
Oh, and if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask them here or in-game.
If you happen to be exploring and a dark purple dragon with glowing blue eyes appears from nowhere, don't be alarmed. I'm pretty sure he won't eat you.

Welcome!
The land where a merchant named Smitty may be a new arrivals bff.
Where typing ;;t and ;;p and ;;info who and ;;tool backup can provide surprising info as well as peace of mind.
Where if you see something for sale that seems too good to be true, it probably is....
Where Wands of Invisibility are indeed Invisible!
Where running (aka fleeing and tactical retreating) is an option for both Players and monsters alike!
Tis a happy place!

Welcome to Aenea Ian
Well, VC (variable chat) commands are used rather extensively here.
You can get a list of general commands (which you can then type in other commands to get more info on) simly by using the following command:
;;help
That will get your started, and any specific questions are good to post here. Good luck and see you around!

Re: New here. I like it so far
Thanks for the welcome and advice guys. I've had a great few hours tonight. I copped out of playing my druid (Jakarle) because I made a halfling monk (Darrick Bolter) It's something I always wanted to do but didn't because of the low strength halflings have. With Goblin Kin as a sub race I had a starter monk with 18 strength and decent dexterity and wisdom too. I think constitution was 12. Intelligence is low at 9 and charisma is non existent at 7 but hey, I'm an ugly short green guy, I'm not gonna win any prizes in the looks and charm department
I'm loving the monk. At one point I was jumped by about a dozen goblins and managed to take them all down although I did pop a few healing potions... Well 5 or 6 actually but it was too much fun to run.
Anyway thanks once again for the warm welcome. I'm hitting the sack now as it's nearly 1 AM here but I'll be back on tomorrow night for sure.
PS I've got over my space bar addiction already
EDIT: I can't believe I wrote 18 health instead of 18 strength. I was tired and I'm old (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it )

Be careful for Tab Key Tunnel Syndrome....
Be sure to look at all the cool gizmo's; many are also available at Smitty's. They are quite helpful, and are among my overall faves.

Welcome, Proteus64! It is a great world, is it not?
If you like customization, of armor and weapons and such, Bluebeard's in the Valorian's Vale and the House of the Rising Sun (Might be called something else now) just outside of Mistborne are both excellent places to go, and are relatively close to the Vale.
Some of the things that has kept me coming back and back and back are the PC customization options ... I'd definitely recommend them!
Enjoy, and hope to see you in-game someday!

Re: New here. I like it so far
That's it. I'm officially hooked I've spent several hours in Aenea today. I'm slowly getting the hang of things. Players have been really helpful but not in such a way as to spoil the immersion.
I've been having fun with RP too. I'd forgotten how much depth decent RP can add to a game.
I'm sure I'll be spending far too much time here
Right, must hit the sack now. Only 6.5 hours until I get up for work.

Re: New here. I like it so far
So here I am a few days later and I'm still loving it. Had a blast on Monday night, so much so that I wrote an account of my adventures in the Tales of Adventure section of the forum.
It's been several months since i had the urge to do any creative writing so this place is really doing the business as far as I'm concered.
Thanks for all your efforts . The world of Aenea is an interesting and vibrant place and the characters I have met, are equally interesting and vibrant.

Yeah, Aenea has that special something... if you just ease yourself in, and let it take you where it takes you.... it just captures the imagination.

Re: New here. I like it so far
Aenea has actually ruined me toward the game. I went to play the OC (cause that's the only one that will work in the basement) ... I can't do it. It's missing too much for me to enjoy it, or commit to it. Very few mods can entertain me now the way that Aenea entertains me!

Re: New here. I like it so far
A belated welcome!
I hope that you'll find, as I did, that Aenea is the best of the NWN1 custom PWs. And PWs themselves beat out MMO games because the player-base is generally so much more mature in the cooperative sense. And as for single-player games, personally I can't hardly get into any other game anymore, as everything you can do in single-player games, you can do here, but so much more, to create your very own unique story, unbounded by the limits of any superimposed plot. In Aenea, you'll discover a world optimized for soloing and available for a hack-n-slash romp, yet also totally made for open-ended roleplaying. The vast possibilities with 's superlative continually-upgraded content, and the imaginative spontaneous creativity of the thoughtful players, makes all other single-person games seem quite uninvolving.

Re: New here. I like it so far
Welcome, although late
I must admit that when I came here I was becoming jaded of playing NWN.
I had left my old servers due to becoming bored and had also tried many others. I was about to uninstall NWN when I read a comment about Amethyst Dragon and his upgrades and decided to pop in for a look.
Quite a surprise but I stayed.
I find the multiple changes here great and the people very easy to talk with. And, although never really into RP I have found that the imprompto RP which happens here is good as it can link into each others storyline
Anyway, again welcome and enjoy as much as I am
