There seems to be a zone of XP relating PC level and creature CR, and if you fall outside the zone (too high OR too low) then the XP falls off.

Easy question to answer: He is using the NWN2 spell icons override. Link

Yup nwn2 icon overrides.

I put them into the "cep_custom" hak so they override the Aenea icons.

And as for how she did it, I'll give a clue.... Observant players can figure it out from that screenshot

It's a tactic Dave showed me. He elaborated on it in some post a long while back too I believe.

Tactic was originally developed for battling ancient demilich with gangs of lowbies and one or two epic level PCs for Tanking/Healing. The lowbies are basically the artillery.
