Very popular Bear

I am a lvl 4 Ranger and often recieve aid form Andra, in the form of a Dire Bear.
This Bear is very effective and most helpful in a tight situation.

This Bear is also very popular with Bandits, Dire Wolves, Orcs(Bloody Orcs), and others.
When traveling the country with the Bear in tow, a lot of these sorts apear and start beating me up. Inevetably the bear has been around for a while at this stage and decides that he has other places to be and trundles off in a flash of blue light, leaving me to attempt to exit stage left with all speed. Fleet of foot a Ramir is he is often caught/cornered, particularly in transit between areas, and sent back, again, to the hall of Zolaris.

Is there a way to unsumon the bear after a fight?
Alternately, would it be worth modifing the summons so that the bear is only summoned if you are in combat?

At the moment I am moving rather cautiously when the bear is about. This is not always effective.

The bear will soon be changing... ok, not changing, but vanishing only to be replaced with a different favor that will do better at keeping more powerful enemies from appearing and beating you up.
