Psionics question

is there a way in standard game to allow players to use the mind flayers psionic abilities?

Shifter gets a Mind Flayer form, (Shifter 10) and that form has "Psionic Blast" as a spell-like ability. It's really just damage to the target if they fail a saving throw, but it is similar to the standard Flayer's psi-blast, and it's in the standard game, so there you go.

yea but i dont wanna look like one...i was just wanting to put said abilities on a widget or something to simulate it on my local games.

yea...thats so overcomplicated to import into a module..specially if they already got scripts in place.

It's just a script. With a little bit of research you should be able to make a widget that just calls the psi-blast script and import that into the module. For a DIY solution, look to Lilac's script generator...or search the vault to see if there's something similar...or open the work space and find a similar widget that exists and just edit the script...

...or hope that someone here will whip one up for you. Years ago I would have, but my development rig is long since retired, as is the time to dedicate to making it so.

naw its fine. ill just deal with it. Ill just put mental spells on some widgets and fake it.

If you already know how to do this, you can find the script specific to the mindflayers and use that as the scripted effect. That's all I'm saying Smile

well im boggled...i made a little widget...tagged the script the same as its name and i get nothing.

Shouldnt it fire The Amethyst Dragon? or am i missing some key script or component?

man i can make other spells that work..but i cant seem to get that cone/blue ring effect to fire....i cant find it anywhere Sad

The blue ground VFX is part of the "spell", which appears during "casting" by the mind flayer. It's built into the spells.2da file (line 713). The script might also not be doing anything because it's looking for a caster rather than an item activator.

Well i guess ill just give up...in inserted the get item activator line but still nothing.

I guess theres just no way to apply the mindflayer abilities to a widget or power to a player.
