Blue Rhomboid iouns that grant Alertness

, have you removed these from Aenea's treasure system?

I've hunted creatures that drop all the other iouns in vast amounts... but I've not come across a single alertness ioun. 100+ of every other type of ioun, just not the alertness one....

And a secondary question... there was at one point a part of the description altering VC commands to allow paragraphs.. there was something real wonky with them though. Have they been removed? I've been searching through the forums for over an hour now trying to find the post with the syntax for them, but can't find it....

Barring that... is there anyway to perhaps make the text string for the commands (mydesc, itemdesc) longer? The actual length of the string that gets put onto the PC's bio or an item is VERY short... Not looking to make Atrophied_Eric novel length descriptions, but would be nice to be able to do more than 150 characters, including spaces, commas and periods...

The description one can make with the current command is really short (although I do make Eric worthy lengthy descriptions).


Edit: On the blue rhomboid stone issue; Celestin got a spare in his echest. If your PC asks him nicely, he might give it away for a good cause.

Thanks AoD. I got several PCs that have spare ones too.... I'm more interested in knowing if they're still in the treasure system to be scrounged up by new players, or older players looking to collect for dwarf/maker lists. If they're items no longer to be found in the loot drops, I'm gonna remove them from the Maker's DM gathering lists

While I may have seen them in the past, am fairly certain none of my PC's have one.

Another question, has anyone recalled coming across rings of resistance lately?

Haven't come across any of the alertness ioun stones yet, this year, but I haven't hunted any umberhulks for a looooong time...maybe they drop them more frequently than beholders. Who knows.

I don't think I've ever seen a blue ioun that grants "alertness" in the over a year and a half since I've been here. (And both of my toons have killed loads of umber hulks.)

Could you tell us more specfically what this "alertness" ioun stone does?

As I recall, the Alertness feat grants +2 to Listen and Spot skills.

So is that what this blue ioun stone does, grant +2 to Listen and Spot skills?

Yeah, the blue rhomboid stone temporarily grants the Alertness feat (for as long it's active), which gives +2 to listen and spot

Yeah, I've never ever seen a single one of these blue ioun stones, in the 19 months I've been playing here.

I'll hit you up in-game AoD for a hint on where you're finding them.

And yeah, grants the alertness feat. There's one other ioun that used to be available but has since become unavailable.... that was intentional I believe as had some issue with getting to work properly with the way iouns work now (they used to work different behind the scenes)

There's really not that many places beholders "hang out" in Aenea...I think...just go beholder bashing, you'll get across them eventually. I always do.

You must be luckier than me I have not recalled seeing any for a good while, and I've been keeping an eye out specifically for them over the last week or two.

So are the blue rhomboids still in game or not? Like Ramana, I've not seen one.

I may have taken them out. I seem to recall people having problems with them showing up in the ioun stone control conversation, and +2 to two different skills wasn't that big of a bonus for the frustration.

Problems even after updating the ioun with it's unique power? I get problematic iouns all the time, and using their unique power updates them and they begin working again.

And +2 is still a +


edit: Just double checked a PC of mine who has one of these still... it's not granting the alertness feat itself, but it is granting a +2 bonus to the listen/spot skills. The character's ioun was a bum one too that had to be 'updated' before working right.
