when activated the second group of crystals fails to spawn so you cant manipulate the sections. resetting functions but same result occurs again.

I tried using em today...they worked for a few times then wont appear now again after the second stage. When they were working....they wouldnt copy my weapon...just went to a default look instead of the weapons current look.

The crystals are supposed to start with a default appearance for weapons, and are then modified from that common starting point.

I'll do more testing with the crystals to see if I can figure out what's going on with them.

Just wanted to say, when I tried the crystals (last week?) to change Cherry's bow, it seem to work fine. I used pretty much all of the crystals and they all worked fine, got her bow altered too.

Did something get changed since then?

hmm maybe i just needed to be more clear. yes it started at a default point..worked a few times....and then the second set of crystals you get to alter appearance vanished. and the modstart vc command would reset it to the first set of four pink crystals works.

just moment you clik one....the first ones vanish...but no other crystals appear and nothing could shift on the weapon in question

Crafting Crystals in Bluebeards (merged threads) Empty Crafting Crystals in Bluebears

Post by MannyJabrielle Tue Feb 19, 2013 9:30 pm

Thought I saw a post about these, but I can't seem to find it now...

So I played around with the 'alternative' to the mystic boots in Bluebeard's tower. Most of my characters had little problem using them, however my vampy Angelica has one... they flat out don't work for her.

I thought perhaps it was her weapon, so I tried using plain weapon types bought from Darla's brat in the merchant grove. No dice.

I click on the "modify weapon" crystal (the crystals are a tad too close I think...), and the weapon appears floating in the air, but none of the modifying control crystals appear. I tried the ;;tool modstart command to restart the process, and it successfully brings back the weapon/shield/cloak selection crystals, but again when I try to modify any weapon, the preview weapon appears, but no control crystals.

This *only* happens for Angelica... the crystals show up for my other PCs who have tried them out so far (five other ones so far). I do not think it's a question of skill points, as Angelica has significantly higher crafting skills than a few of my other characters who can get the crystals to work for them.

And a question... are the new elven rapier parts included in the parts list? I tried modifying Angie's rapiers with the regular ol mystic boots (which DO work for her), but the part I want on her rapier (the middle 'spring' looking part of the new rapier models) isn't in the boots list... are they in the crystal's lists?

And a second question.... what's the practical difference between the boots and the crystals?

Ah, yes. Those. Kind of touchy still.

Elven rapier parts are not currently in the system. I haven't run through all the reforged models (and new ones I added at the same time) yet to update the 2da files the system (both crystals and boots) runs on.

The two things should be pretty much the same, except the crystals are intended to use a "creature" the holds weapons/shields/etc. upright instead of a normal PC grip so that they'd be easier to see, and to move from a crapload of scripts in a conversation to just a couple of scripts and placeables.

I'm going to make all-new placeables for that system soon, which should more reliably to the appearing/disappearing based on animations instead of "invisibiility" effects.

Crafting Crystals in Bluebeards (merged threads) Empty Re: Crafting Crystals in Bluebeards (merged threads)

I recently went to play around with these....

I'm guessing that the reforged weapons project severely broke the crystals?

At best, I can get the 'default reforged NWN' models to show up on the crystals, but as soon as I scroll into a CEP/non standard NWN model, the mockup weapon completely disappears and the crystals stop working.

Likewise... the reforged models seem to have broke the mystic boots as well in this same fashion....

However, the mystic boots now also eats weapons, and should probably be disabled until fixed..... I lose a nice high end weapon, no problem, but I can see a newer player with a low level PC not liking it one bit.

Angelica lost several weapons to the boots.  Selected a default set of models for the weapon, chose to apply the appearance, succeeded at the craft weapon check, and the weapon in her hand simply dissappeared.

Played around some more with the crystals in bluebeards...

So reforged model parts work fine with the crystals.... unless the weapon in your hand is high value.  You'll go to apply the new appearance, and if you succeed in the craft check, your high value weapon will get eaten.

I tested with several pummelling hail bows and plain short bows.  I could apply the appearance to the plain bows no problems.  I however lost all 4 pummelling hail bows, despite applying the exact same appearance/coloring to them as to the plain bows.
