The Amethyst Dragon, have you changed anything recently that would somehow be preventing exporting copies of our PCs to our local vaults?  I've tried several times to do so just now, and each time, I'll get the first message about preparing to export, but I don't get the export successful message.... and at around the moment I would usually get a successful export message, I crash to desktop.

From the time I hit the export button on the options screen to the crash, my game acts almost as if in severe lag.  I open the inventory, but it's all blank as if lagging, however my PC can move around (not sure about area transitioning), and doesn't turn to original facing before the move command was issued like they would under server lag.

I tried three or more times with both the unmodified nwn exe, and the nwncx plugins, both avenues, 100% guarenteed crash.

I tested on another server I play on as well as a single player module.... no crash there.  This is Aenea specific.

Very weird.  I've not heard of that happening before.

As far as I know, there's nothing different in the module or on the server that would start causing that.

This happened to me when I tried to export a couple of my characters' .bics to localvault for backup. Not sure what caused it though...at the time, I pondered the possibility that it might have had something to do with their huge inventories though. I'm a bit of a packrat, I can admit that without a slight of guilt. Razz

This is nothing new, it's happened to me for a long time.

I've long linked this crash upon character exports to having a huge inventory.  Anything over about 700 items in the inventory will always crash my character export save, which being as I'm a save nut, I do from time to time.

Since I discovered this, I tend to keep an eye on the inventory count that is announced upon login, and never try to export save my character until I get back under 700 items.  Under 600 nearer 500 is even safer.

It's quite predictable, happens like clockwork... happened all the time with my packrat rogue of many devices and dresses, until I learned the secret... and then while my novice wizard was only between 500-600 items in inventory, never had a problem, until once I didn't realize that her inventory had crept over 700 items or so and it crashed the export.

I'm just imagining making a series of visual effects that get automatically layered on a PC based just on the inventory count after hitting 100 (non-equipped) items, so that by the time you hit 700+ items (and yes, stacks count as single items, not dozens/hundreds per stack), your character looks like a 10 foot diameter ball of randomly piled on equipment/bags/loot/whatever with just his or her feet sticking out the bottom.

Ailish gets halfway to that with the ;;vfx backpacks Laughing If the packs could go on the front to, she'd be that, feet, bags, and a head!

600 seems to be the magic number for me.... I tried to export and waited 5 minutes... nothing. Re-logged and found I was at 604 items.

I stashed about 10-15 items and then export completed in about 10 seconds.
