New person here...
Evening, good people of Aenea...
First of all, i'm not sure if there is more appropriate section of the forums for this, but after a quick survey this seemed like the best place for this.
I only now came across of the name of this server, and i began to wonder if this server is still active?
I have been feeling like i would like to try a new server in Neverwinter Nights, now that the ones i used to play have either shut down, or become intolerable for the reasons i won't start to list here.
So, before downloading the haks and all, how populated is the server now? And with cap on 20 people, is there passwords required or anything similar?

Yep; server is still active, though I have not logged in for a while now. However, I still check the Forums to see if DM events are planned.

I did notice that there are posts on the forums, that are quite recent. But as for the moment, the server itself remains empty.

Re: New person here...
Only speaking for myself, but I am anxiously awaiting Dragon Age: Inquisition to arrive this week. The only game I have enjoyed more than this series has been NWN1, and mostly due to the Toolkit and folks like that use it.

Re: New person here...
Mine and the US timezones have 7+ hours difference, but i was checking the Aenea frontpage at around 5-7am at my time. So that would have been evening to midnight in the US.

Re: New person here...
There is a small European force that plays in Aenea.. mainly from the UK and Poland area's. Unfortunately NWN is a dying game, and most of those that did play regularly (like myself) have run into real life issues that limit playtime (namely getting old, married and having children). I get around 3-4hrs a week to myself, and I have to split that time between my many hobbies/games... at the moment I'm heavily into MH3U, Portal 2 mapping and gym/fitness/weightloss... but I can't stay away from the Aenea vibe for long.... this place IS a fantastic community and great game, it won't be long before you find yourself with a regular party that play at the same times as yourself... ..

I've been doing some reading on the site, and figured that i might give it a go anyways, lots of interesting looking stuff there, that i'd like to see in action.

Re: New person here...
I was wondering about those haks, do i have to download each of them separately? Or is there one that has all them in one?

Re: New person here...
I think they are separate now - there was a combine download once, but it was more work for to manage it.
As for things being quiet, I think we tend to slow down during holiday season, but I have seen a handful of players logged in here and there. Personally, my time is currently very, very limited - and based on all the work did on the CEP 2.0, I think he is taking a break.... though I could be wrong, since he has not announced such.
Still, feel free and do come in and check things out. Welcome to Aenea

Re: New person here...
The server's in a bit of a dry spot currently, because as mentioned, holiday season and real life stuff. It fluctuates like this, always has. Sometimes it'll go two or three months where barely anyone is arorund, then a couple months where there's a regular crowd on every night.

I have bad experiences with "regular group" suddenly disappearing on me without a word when i'm gone for two days, of what i told them before.
Fluctuations always happen, on every server, that is understandable.

Re: New person here...
Yup, we're still around, and hop on periodically. As everyone else has mentioned, many RL issues (a move, a pending move, 4 jobs, 4 kids, etc ...) keep many of us out of game, especially around this time - from Halloween through New Year is a pretty dry spell for myself, just so much going on right now. Once it slows down, we'll be back!
Oh, and welcome to Aenea! It is a truly fantastic place, and I'd wager you'll not be sorry to download all the haks and give it a spin!

Re: New person here...
Things being slow and quiet at the moment would also give me time to learn my way around the server and learn of the custom things implemented, before i run to other people...
How is the RP on Aenea? or is it meant as an RP server?

Re: New person here...
There are no enforcements about RP - or one of the assistant DMs isn't going to boot you for neglecting your "thee"s and "thou"s. It's really up to you, the player - if you like heavy RP, cool. If you like minimal RP, also cool. If your tastes vary from login to login, also also cool. Your interactions with others will tell them what you prefer at the time, and most folks will respect those preferences and play along. Personally, I've never encountered problems with PC interactions. Sometimes I just want to chat with friends, and other times I want to advance a PC's storyline, but I usually let those I encounter know what kinda session I'm looking for.
Worry not, friend Buzog - 'tis a goodly server you've stumbled upon!

Re: New person here...
Completely have to agree with Eric there... RP in Aenea is a good deal of "when you want to"... I think it is one of the great things about the server. The other is player-player respect. If you want to just be quiet and hack'n'sklash for a night, fine, no one is going to argue with that .. but on the flip side though if you come into a group asking about "your thoughts on the cold snowy weather this time of year" (or something else blatantly OOC) and they reply with "yea, 'tis a cold night for midsummer, sharlo is lighting the sky up in little white wisps all over the Icereach, maybe, as it's not actually snowing here.. must be evil undead stirring in these graveyards",(IC) then show some respect and RP along or make you're reasons for leaving, or imply some other way that you'd like to stay and fight along but aren't really in the mood for RP so are going to hang quiet "because of all tha drinkin' n singin' in the Sleeping Dragon Inn me throats real sore, I'd love to accompany you tonight but I don't think I'll be saying much" .... ..
I've had sessions that have gone from deep deep RP, really in character stuff - to breaking into heavy chatter about real life issues... ... I've also had the complete opposite.... ... a good little function in Aenea is the Out-Of-Character text.. just type "//" (without the quotes) before you speak/talk, this gives the text a slightly different colour, and everyone knows that it is OOC. It is a good way to distinguish between you and your character, and in some cases you can use it to talk to the other player whilst maintaining a good RP session "This dungeon is really getting me beat, I must take a break and rest a while" "//while I just grab another can from the fridge and use the bathroom, back in a moment"... "//okay" ... "lets just sit against this wall for a second or two then" ... ..

Re: New person here...
Seems i have to delay Aenea, for now. A friend started to play on another server, which uses CEP 2.4 and crashes with CEP 2.6, so i cannot play on both at the same time. I will, still, keep the CEP 2.6 pack on my computer, and give Aenea a go at a little later date.
