My guess is that the OC will be completed as envisioned, plus optimizations for graphics.

Let us hope that they do not significantly alter the binaries in ways which will preclude the use of tools like NWNX, and that it will play nice with existing PWs.

Thanks for the links. So far, it looks like the exciting parts will be a focus on allowing the community more visibility to the codebase, exposing more functions and trying to only add new things and not change, remove or break things that work. There may also be improvements and expansions of the scripting engine, which may extend capabilities and bolster stability. The graphic improvements, in my opinion, are likely to be minor overall... but I would be pleased to find myself very incorrect.

It sounds like they want to allow existing PWs to keep working, and will not curate or moderate community content... so patch 1.69 will continue to be included in the binaries, and content like project Q and CEP will remain as viable HAK content. 

NWNX and NWNCX I am concerned about..... EDIT: they just stated they have worked with and intend to support and expand opening up the code for NWNX yay!

I am also not excited about the prospect of a new master server...

As far as Aenea and NWN:EE goes, I plan on updating, but not until it's out of beta and actually "released".

Keeping up on my reading and posting on the Beamdog forums for NWN:EE.

So far it looks like they're considering several of the things I posted (which don't show up on the public forum).

Depending on exactly how much of the functionality Aenea currently uses from NWNX gets ported into the base game...I might lean against updating Aenea for EE for a while after it's officially released. NWNX is a server-side program that does a few powerful things for the game. 

The people porting over NWNX are only working on a linux version right now for EE, with no plans to duplicate a version for Windows servers (like Aenea). The best bet is for the functions I need to make it into the base game software.

Fret not, though, as even if Aenea doesn't update to EE, it will still be around, and still be playable since you can have both Diamond/1.69 and EE installed on the same computer. You can evidently even modify an .ini file in EE to get it to point to your current hak and override folders.

Indeed. I have to say, I was reading some of the articles, and I kinda got a "Thank Goodness for Beamdog for revitalizing NwN" vibe. Has anyone else felt this same thing? Or am I just being an edgy teenager?

I was a little disappointed that the older graphics were not upgraded instead of polished, but am glad that Beamdog made NWN1 easier to play for more modern OS's. The whole thing does give me a rush of nostalgia.
