Contest: Design a Quest I (ends April 10th)
Time for a contest!
The last contest was held a looooong time ago to design an area for Aenea. The winner (Grog Ale-Quaffer) made a fun little module with a few areas, but so much custom scripting stuff that I couldn't really integrate it into Aenea (since so many of the scripts in Aenea get reused/multipurposed/interwoven). I've decided to upload that one to the web server so folks here can get into and enjoy the creativity (done, now available here).
In the meantime, I figured out another fun contest...
Design a Quest I
The Prize: Your quest finished and added to Aenea, with recognition in the game by inclusion of your username or a character's name somewhere within the quest when it gets added.
The Deadline: April 10th, 2009
The Entry Guidelines:
1. Type the quest as an outline, with major needed events along the way, flavor details to include, and the potential reward.
2. Quest should fit into one of four desired categories (level 3-8, level 9-15, level 16-20, or level 20+).
3. All activities should take place within existing areas in Aenea, without need for all-new area construction (makes for much faster integration).
4. The quest should take the average player from 1 to 6 real hours to complete (assume no teleportation or use of Wanderer's Portals and plenty of time to puzzle out locations/clues/puzzles/etc.).
5. One entry per person, please. If you have multiple ideas, pick your best, then save the rest for suggestions via PM or later contests.
6. Email the outline as a simple text or Word document to nwn@amethyst-dragon.com.
Once a winner(s) has been selected (by me ), I'll post who the winner(s) is/are right here, then I'll put the winning quest(s) at the top of my TO DO list for adding to the game. There will, of course, be alterations/fleshing out to do, but the outline is what's really needed to get across the idea of the quest and make it easier to implement.

I look forward to seeing the creative juices flow! Will you share the ideas with us once the contest is closed?

Perhaps. The best I'll probably keep under cover until the quests are added (and even then, just say something like "hey, new quest, go here to start it"). I wouldn't want to give much of anything about any of them away.

This is something that I think will pay large dividends on several levels. I look forward to more of the same!

quest submitted
It's a rough outline, because I'm not familiar with scripting
limitations, or requirements, but it should be able to be a good OR
evil quest, which will hopefully really give people some enjoyment
