Reincarnation

So, Alex Lunari has taken the boatride.

Ran into some errors, some minor, some not so minor.

In the avatar's dialogue, the "yes I am" option shows up twice.

Once you're reincarnated, get auto-booted and log back in.... there's no way out of the cave or off the island without assistance from another PC. Can't cross the barrier in front of the cave, and both the island and cave are teleport blocked. Alex got out when Talon gave him some lysis keys. Perhaps reincarnated/Ascended PCs could be given a lysis bracer for getting out? Makes sense too since it's the Avatar of Lysis they're talking to.

Gift of travel/flight/time. The feats show up on my character sheet, but I can find no way to activate them. Alex has no flight token for the gift of flight, and the abilities don't show up in his class radial menu or anywhere else.

Another problem, Alex's quest journal is as it was before reincarnation. While it really isn't a big thing not having to do the food for a feast quest again, this is a very particular problem for the wanderer's portal quest... his amulet was zapped with the rest of his inventory at reincarnation

Other items which may also be affected by this particular problem: The elemental blade of fire from the conflagral quest, the soulgathering sword, the blazing staff, the shock spear with the same levelup powers as the blazing staff, possibly the Luminaria (not sure if it's possible to get a second one). Hope reborn (if for whatever reason a PC has gotten the sword but NOT taken on and defeated Gron yet... in particular I remember Talon saying he hadn't beaten Gron yet, and I know he's looking to reincarnate) I'm sure if I drudged through my swisscheese memory, I may be able to name a few other one-per items that would get lost forever.

Cleric granted spells/subrace tokens.... those given at 1st level, would they get zapped at reincarnation? Alex had none (and can't remember what he did with his 5th level andra spell token). I would guess that winged characters reincarnating would lose their flight token? PCs who took wizard at first level, would they lose their identify crystal? (not that it's a big loss, the legendlore crystal is more usefull, never had any luck with the identify one myself).

Other notes: Alex still has his ethereal chest. He didn't have anything in it, so I don't know if it's contents got zapped along with his carried inventory, likewise for his GP bank balance, nothing in it, but I wondered if money stored tehre would persist or not.

The timeplayed chests appear to be working as intended. Alex's timeplayed counter was reset to 8 hours, and he was able to collect the 1 through 8 hour chests no problem.

I guess something is wrong with the reincarnation script...it's supposed to send you back to the Astral Conjunction afterward.

For the time being, a quick commands to clear those quest variables and journal entries so reincarnated PCs can do them again...

More work on the way when I get a chance to spend more than 5 minutes in the toolset.

The reincarnation script still isn't firing off, and leaves players trapped within that area. I did notice however that the avatar of Lysis gets teleported to the Astral Conjunction. Perhaps the script is zapping her there instead of the PC?

And I had a thought about timing issues too... it seemed like the avatar disappeared from the cave the moment the 'log off' message scrolled by. It made me think that perhaps in some cases, slow load times coupled with the auto-log off just might cause a problem? Granted the conjunction's a pretty fast loading area, but you never know with lag, bad connections, or such. Perhaps an alternative would be to have the PC manually chose to get zapped to the conjunction after the auto-boot process is taken care of?

Found another oddity, a quest one.

All the quests are automatically reset now, except for the Marde girl rescue. It stays in the completed quests section. I didn't go talk to the father, but when I did get down to the bottom of where she's being held, there were two girls, one who said thanks (as per having completed the quest) and one who asked me if her father sent me (as in having not completed the quest).

Oh, and didn't notice so much last night, but the subrace power tokens get zapped but not replaced still (vampire domination ability, for example).

As I got to the place for reincarnation, I arrived to a hostile Avatar of Lysis. I don't want to kill her (unless I'm supposed to, and come to find out, I can't) cause I'm pretty sure that she's the one who you reincarnate through. Any help would be appreciated

P.S. Sorry about just submitting those custom items and now reincarnating. I plan on using them as they are with the respective vouchers however when it becomes available to me.

A reset fixed the issue. Also, she didn't even seem all that potent for the Avatar of Lysis. Might I suggest upping her a bit for those foolish enough (or unlecky enough) to anger her?

I have not been able to use the new feats from reincarnation either. Is there a tool to use to gain the use of these abilities? Also, the Piety level didn't change. While not a bad thing IMHO, it is a bug I think. Furthermore, my bank balance was not wiped. I have no inention of touching it at all. What's the point of having a million gold when I reincarnate and I'm supposed to be starting over?

Yeah, the feats are busted, I believe is waiting for he next big hak update to put the fixes in live... as for wiping bank balances and clearing ethereal chests, your right, they are supposed to get cleared but the reincarnation and ascension scripts still need a bit of work. Enjoy it while you can (or don't lol).

Tempting as it is, I don't plan on using the money. I may possibly regret that later, but oh well.

Reincarnation does not currently clear vairables such as how many times you've been to an area. (TEsted with the Temple of SOrgath)

Speaking of areas that you can enter a limited number of times, teleporting to those areas does not trigger the number.

True, which is why I now skip the temple of sorgath and port straight to outside of the mindflayer enclave

A wonderful thing to do for those who can actually teleport. Reincarnation took suck a toll on Aseph's power ....

So now that the big hak is out, what are the plans for this? I didn't see any fixes with it if they were supposed to be in it.

As a temporary fix for some of the broken feats, why not give Reincarnated PC's tools that give them powers to replicate the feats, at least for the teleportation and flight.

Speak to MannyJabrielle (or any DM?!) and they can do this one for you... there should be no problem with them giving you a book of flight and a helm of teleportation ...

the book of flight is 3 uses a day (The feat is infinite) and the Helm of Teleportation is once a day. My understanding is that the feasts work more than that. How often is the teleportation supposed to work?

Arkon has a good memory.... I don't think it was intended as such however..

So it is a (bugged) loop in the system that ye can use to store away somethings you'd like to carry over... Just remember re-incarnation/ascention is suppose to be a "fresh start" for your PC... so lets not abuse it....

I think it would likely be too much hassle for to remove all of Arkon's settings for the crossover as he uses the database to remember stuff... that being said I'm not sure he's fully aware about Arkon's good long-term memory skills... So we might be saying goodbye to this feature of the Re-incarnation/Ascention soon...

what i was asking for was the fact that i no longer have the erf's on my compy for my created items. I used more than 1 vouchers for each and can't remember which ones they were.

I also have some stuff in there that I have had since the beginning of the character, sort of like keepsakes that is why.

Custom items go away, no matter what.

Yes, stuff remaining in the ethereal chest is a mistake.

As far as erf files, I only keep those long enough to transfer them into the module, then they are erased to save space on my hard drive. erf files are basically like zip files...a means of collecting and moving other files.

Don't work. The feats are present on the list, but there is no way to activate them. Can Shannon haz teleportz?

If I may suggest it.... can the Reincarnation Feats be the next thing slated for changes/fixes once the Epic Magic System is completed?

I think at this point, the issue is no longer affecting just a few players/PCs but a large enough population to warrant a more immediate fix.

Kinda duplicate thread... merge with the ascnesion bug thread as they're basically covering the same problems? (or maybe even lock-n-box since I think eveyrthing in this thread NOT fixed already has been mentioned in the other thread as well)
