Used: Dire Rats
I suggest that dire rats bite damage be limited to 1d4 at most.
I could see their bite having the effect of a dagger, but not a sword. And strength wize, for small creatures, anything over 14 strength is a little busted. I could see 16 on an exceptional specimen, perhaps, but that should be exceedingly rare.

and just to kill off the theory of it being an isolated incident where the randomized stats gave a rat a big str boost....
note in the following screenie the rat has only a +1 to hit, but STILL bites for 11 damage.
this rat was on the northwest road.... and it is more dangerous than the *groups* of goblins in the second level of the cave...
