A bit of advertising history

I was digging through my folders (getting ready to submit a new ad to the Vault), when I came across a bunch of older ad images.  I thought it'd be fun to share them all at once.

It's kind of interesting to see the evolution of the ad image.  Starting with the oldest, going to the most recent.

But answer me this - i don't ever recall seeing the cloak from no. 6 - is it still in the game?

The dragon design cloak? Yes, certain big foul-tempered smelly types wear them

You can also use the boots to craft a cloak to have the dragon design cloak... then the dye pot to pick the colours you want...

#19 has been updated and submitted to the Vault. It should go online sometime in the next week or so. It's taken up to 2 1/2 weeks for some to start the rotation, but there aren't a lot running right now and it's almost time for a new month and Hall of Fame inductions.

Oh, and this one is the first to use a screenshot of a character that's not mine. So keep those [PrintScreen] buttons handy during your adventures and post your images in the screenshots section of the forum (or the screenshots section of the Vault)...you could end up in the next ad!

Just uploaded Ad #20. Not sure when it will start rotation on the Vault.

The screenshot of Aurora just looked "cold" to me, so I thought it'd work for one starting near the end of December.

I was just looking at number 5 there... and feeling smug in the knowledge that I can name all those places... oh what wonderful memories this world has given me ... ps it's only 9pm christmas eve, and I know also think I must be getting a bit tipsy ... ... I have today replaced my playtime with drink time, as I have nothing better to do whilst at my in-laws for christmas ... ... really starting to wish I had taken the extra half hour to unplug and pack my pc.. or at the very least, the wii, or remembered the ds charger .... .... ... ...

How many more can name the eight places of 5 .... ... (exclusion to of course ~ no offense meant but I have a strange feeling you'd know them all too)...

Well, nobody tell Aurora she's famous. If you think she's insufferable now...

New ad (#21) now in rotation on the Vault and added to the initial post. I've realized I like the current format, with less text but highlighting the general qualities and award info, and of course better featuring the screenshots.

Ad number 22 has been uploaded and is waiting approval. Keep those screenshots coming!

Also submitted the new colorized spell and colorized scroll icons for general community download, and decided to whip up a couple advertising images for those as well.

Ad #23 is finally running on the Vault's front page (after sitting in the queue since May 24th).

Ad #24 is now in rotation on the Vault. Yes, another player made screenshot has made it into Aenea's advertising.

The new image says we've won 14 Hall of Fame awards, but we won't get the 14th induction (for the d&d classic elementals) until Oct. 1st or 2nd (since inductions are done at the start of the month). It's been a while since we won the 13th, but we've got a bunch of pieces with 10 or fewer votes needed to hit 25.

Ad #26 posted to the Vault (and the first post in this thread), using another player-made screenshot.


We could always use more screenshots in this section of the forum. I like using images that aren't mine for the advertising, since y'all get into more adventuring fun than I do. Plus, I just like to see things from a player's perspective.

If you need software that can open the .tga files that get saved to your NWN/screenshots folder, there's a free one called GIMP floating around out there...almost as powerful as Photoshop, and only really needed for some conversion to .jpg and possibly cropping/resizing.

Newest ad image submitted minutes ago. Updates number of HoF awards won and shows off two of the 115 new options for magic missiles (which should go live with next server reset).

It looks like they emptied out the ads currently in circulation, so I just submitted a new one (#28 in the 1st post here)...a character backlit by an active Wanderer's Portal.

Time for me to look in the screenshots forum again.

And I'll pass the message along to Shouri that her pretty face is soon to be shown around the world. As a devout follower of Jewel, I'm sure she'll love the vanity of that.

Finally got a new site ad up and running on the front page of the NWN Vault (it's number 31 in the list in the initial post). Haven't had one there since this spring. It's currently the only ad in the system, so everyone that visits the Vault is seeing it.

There's benefits to being nice to everyone you can in the NWN community. A long time ago I got the template they use for adding borders and headers from BeyondThePale. Now, I can do all the image editing, and Maximus or Rolo Kipp can get my images into the system without spending time trying to edit them. I submitted the image late last night, PM'd Rolo Kipp on the BioWare forum to let him know it was there, and tonight it's visible on the Vault.


Oh, and I stickied this thread just because it's got a lot of history and I update when needed without always making a new post.

Finally uploaded a new image for an Aenea ad (#32 in the first post).

Keep your screenshots coming in, folks! Your character could be immortalized in advertising.

Uploaded advertising image #33.  New and improved with 18 vitamins and minerals hall of fame awards.

Added #34 to the list.

Nice to see that Aenea still has a presence in the ads ... I'm assuming that this one is running on the Vault, yes? Tremendous work, , truly tremendous work!

It kind of helps that I don't have to wait for someone to look at my ads and get them posted, or renew them when they hit their 3-4 week expiration...

...because I'm the guy handling all the Vault community-made site ads these days.

And, folks, if you post some good screenshots here in the screenshots section of the forum, I may use them in future ads.

This is a facebook post I made back in February to generate a little publicity...

, do you still have the full size images for the advertising buttons? I was thinking about putting together a photo story of them.

I do not have larger copies of most of the images used in the advertising.  Some is here in the Screenshots section of the forum, but some were taken specifically for the advertising and deleted afterward.
