'Fame' Tracking System Empty 'Fame' Tracking System

Ill preface this with the fact that I dont know much about how merchants work
behind the scenes.

Idea is basically this:

PCs have a variable, sort of like the KillKount stuff, but it only tracks kills
on certain boss enemies.

When one of the qualifying bosses is killed, a script would check to for
a variable that would have been set if the PC had already killed that boss
on this reset...

If the variable is not present, then the PC gains the temporary
variable (that goes away after reset) noting that they have killed that
boss, and a certain number of points are added to the PC's permanent
'fame' variable.

If the variable is present, then nothing happens. This would be
to prevent excessive fame farming.

As the stored 'fame' variable increases, at certain plateaus
the PC would gain discounts/sale price improvements at merchant
shops.... either because they are famous for helping out, or famous
for being very powerful.

I like the idea of fame influencing prices a lot. The thing I don't like about it is that it would further decrease the value of gold. I feel it's already too easy to earn money on higher levels(Amaterasu has something like 13 million gold). I don't want to imagine prices a character with maxed out appraise would get should that system get implemented...

On a related note, it's already quite easy to get higher sell rates than buy rates with certain merchants so you could easily earn as much money as you need by just selling stuff, buying it and repeating as many times as needed. Granted, that's pure cheese. With ketchup on top.

I think its based off charisma...as when you first clik a vendor..the game tells you what the merchant thinks of ya...favourable,unfavorable and such. Beyond that...only thing i could think of is to give a bonus to appraise based on your amount of baddies..that would change the prices of stuff bought and sold.

For merchant favorability? It's based off your appraise score, which benefits from intelligence.

Unless The Amethyst Dragon's tweaked the scripts, I think the favorable reaction roll is made the first time you open the store, and remains at that favorbility until you level up and point more points into ingelligence/appraise, or the server resets.

What I was thinking was more something that a price/value adjustment before the appraise check. Sort of like a direct change to the merchants markup % before the appraise skill is factored in. Maybe thru an additional dialogue option or somesuch.
