I was thinking ... if enemies are randomized when they spawn.... and we're essentially conjuring up creatures from somewhere else (as far as I know, that's how Summon Creature spells work)... why aren't their stats randomized?

So... why not randomize the stats of summoned creatures created via Summon Creature I-IX as well as any summoned via Granted Spells

How the mechanics of the gamework is there is a template in the tool set of pregenerated beasties. When you cast a summon the game looks to that chart and picks one off the list and spawns it.

All thier stats are preset from those templates...not sure if makin them random could be done. Might be possible to add bonuses randomly but thats more scripts to be added and there is a resource limit to the game.

There would prob be better uses for scripting then some small thing like that. Unless you examine em thier stats dont seem to matter much most of the time being background information anyhow(as far as ive experienced.)

Randomising summon monster stats could be added to the summon script itself, the whole point is to make it so that sometimes a summon is slightly stronger or faster then another one. I could see this being very advantageous, and it would also give the feeling that you have summoned a random creature...

The summon script itself could be utilised to do lots of other things to the summoned monster as well... the script knows which beast it is going to create, and can identify it... ... a few extra lines of code added to add possibly say 1d6 to the creatures stats would be helpful, as well as a rename "random name" + "creature name" thingi.... .. it's a little change, but to some it would be nice to summon "Barry the Dire Wolf, summoned by PlayerName", that is a fast and strong wolf if stupid , then just "Dire Wolf, Summon" with standard stats.... ....

I like the idea for summons, but I don't think it should apply to Familiars, Animal Companions, Paladin Mounts, Stone Horses or "Undead Armies"....

I like the idea of random bonuses to summons stats.... but I do not think there should be potential for random negative modifiers, as this would make the creature weaker than the default version that was intended.
