Meg O'La Maniac Empty Meg O'La Maniac

Everyone in the O’Mani clan knew the story of great-great-great Granmamma Elsbeth, but no-one really believed it. At the age of 17 she was rumoured to have run away from home with a travelling circus and returned a year-or-so later heavily pregnant. She claimed the father was a goblin bard and acrobat called Floggin. Her son, great-great Granpappa Horatio was unremarkable considering his supposed parentage, although he was a large man, and well known for his strength.

Gilbert O’Mani was as sceptical as any of the O’Mani family until one fateful day twenty-odd years ago. His wife Elena went into labour with their first child, and despite the best efforts of all concerned did not survive the birth. A grief stricken Gilbert had a further shock when his daughter Meg was handed to him. The large baby girl had a definite green-ish tinge to her skin!

Nevertheless, Gilbert loved his daughter, and the girl grew up with him and her uncles, aunts and cousins. From a young age it as clear she was much bigger than children her age and was often involved in fights due to the teasing of other children over the colour of her skin. She was a loner and developed into a petty thief, often as a way to get back at those who teased her. Embarrassed by her green skin she was never seen without heavily powdred skin, which in contrast to her dark hair made her stand out all the more. As she grew older she became harder and harder to control until an exasperated Gilbert sent her to the nearby clerics of Typhis in the Crystalbreeze Mountains in the hope they could install some purpose in her life.

The young Meg was a natural swordswoman although she had no divine gifts. She excelled in subterfuge and the natural dexterity of her halfling heritage comnined with the strength of her goblin great grandpapa made her an excellent fighter. She soon adopted Typhis as her patron deity finding solace in the chaotic nature of the wind. She realised that the skills she was learning would allow her to survive on her own and seek her fortune, no matter who or what came in her way. She became more and more unruly, ignoring her masters, in what she claimed was the following of her natural path, as the wind would. She became obsessed with wealth and would hoard anything she could lay her hands on. The few friends she had heard constantly of her plans for fame, wealth and power. Her fellow pupils regarded her with a mixture of fear and contempt although the latter would often find their possessions would disappear following a run-in the girl who became known a Meg O’LeManiak.

At 19 she left the mountains, with a number of relics in her pockets. These helped pay for her journey to the small village of Valorian’s Vale where she began her new life for fame, wealth, power and world domination.
