New familiars
I think it would be cool to get a few new familiars....i know we got a cat now but id like to see some off the wall ones.
Heres a list of ideas i thought up..
1.Snake(for those drow types)
2.Floating quartz crystal(for those mentalists, you could use a slightly larger version of one of the ioun stone models)
3.Butterfly(for the fae and ladies)
4.Goblin(for those evil magicians with the sniveling servant)
For druid/ranger companions...
1.Displacer beast
2.Arumvorax
3.Black/white lion
4.White stag
Thoughts?

personally, i like it, and i like the specific suggestions. just a caveat - i've actually done this before and it's pretty involved ; there are many control files to modify, and due to the way nwn treats familiars, you have to make a blueprint for every single level 1-40. so for the 8 new familiars above, that's 320 new creature blueprints, their corresponding creature item blueprints [skins, attacks, etc.] where necessary, and modification/creation of about a half-dozen scripts and 2da's. so there's a lot of work involved, but on the other hand, it's a neat idea and you don't get something for nothing.

Thanks for the ideas.
Snake: good as both a familiar and animal companion
Floating Crystal: easier to make a brand new crystal model (actually extremely easy to make)
Butterfly: possible with some custom texture work to go with a new model
Goblin: nah, familiars are animals, and all new ones I might add would be small D&D style ones (rather than anything like default NWN meat-shield ones)
Displacer Beast: nah, animal companions tend to mirror natural animals
Arumvorax: same
Lion: this one could work, the models are there already
White Stag: another that could work
The only hesitation comes from the fact that every new familiar type adds 40 new blueprints to the module's resources (one for every possible caster level). Animal companions do a few less, but are still numerous. And unfortunately, there isn't a way to do them off-palette like with the Aenea's newer regular "summons" (at least if you want to be able to have the game recognize them as animal companions or familiars). Not ruling new ones out, just a little hesitant due to the (DM palette) resources hit.
