Tried out the lockpick kit from Smitty's in the leafmarket (the custom one, not the default NWN lockpick items)

I like that you get XP from unlocking stuff with it. I like that it does a lil cutscene effect (although it could be spruced up with the lockpicking animation, rather than the PC just standing there)...

Not too keen on it being defective skill wise though. Angelica's DC when using the lockpicks is 19 points lower than what she gets when using the default NWN open lock function.

If anything, using the locksmith kit should boost the character's lockpicking skill, not nerf it.

I haven't used that tool in a while, but could it be the lockpicking tool doesn't adds a d20 dice roll to the PC's skill?

NWN's lockpicking mechanism adds a d20 roll by default. It could explain why your character is 19 points short using the aenean tool.
