Any info available on forums re the mechanics & consequences of desecrating altars?

Or is it withheld so that a player learns the consequences first-hand, as it were?

There's a bit about altar desecration in one of the bits of info you read on the load screens... forget it's exact wording though.

You can use a VC command to bring up some bits of information, which I think were pulled from the loadscreen hints... forgotten the command though and can't find it on the website VC page... I'll check the PC crystal in-game though as I think it's listed there... it was something like ;;tool hint ...

";;hint - a random useful hint for players of Aenea" - it's right here, man, inside the handy-dandy Text-file friendly VC Command List(s)! (And I just checked it out in-game ... it's all good!)

I think the load screen tip about desecration of altars merely says something to the effect of:

"Desecrating altars can be a bad thing (unless you are a follower of Ragnor or Sorgath)."

I've wondered myself about the effects of desecration, so I know that it's not more informative than that.

And I can read fast, so I know the gist of most of those load screen tips.

I did it once, unintentionally ... oops.

The hint re Ragnor & Sorgath does strike faint gongs. And generally the basic premise on this is ... leave it to the Professionals (yes, we are looking at Aurora ).

I always wondered why Harcorth doesn't treat desecration like Sorgath and Ragnor... I recall one or two of the hints on the load screens saying he's one of the three "evil" gods of Aenea, the other too being ol' Sorgy and Rags.

Any insult obviously just washes off Harcorth's back.

Harcorth is one of the three evil gods, yes. But he is not evil as in "enslave/destroy the world" evil. He's "selfish and self-centered" evil. Basically a bratty teenager, but a god at the same time. Pray to him before sailing or fishing in the seas, offer up some of your catch as sacrifice, etc., and he'll usually just let things go...so long as you're not insulting him directly.

Makes sense ... and I see that Ramana has been hanging out with Elhanan, yes?

Nope, can't blame him, I've already a long history in linguistic humor.

Although I usually tend to favor subtlely insightful puns over the bazinga shot.
