Joining the Darkblades in Macedone

I accepted the initial quest and brought Baristoran Brushdancer the Gold ring he requested, but when I tried to turn it in to him, my alignment shifts toward Evil and nothing else happens...he neither accepts the ring nor does he pay me. Any additional quests are also not offered since the conversation does not progress.

It's likely because the quest still hasn't been converted over to the new quest system yet.
