Golem question Empty Golem question

Is there some reason why the last golem..the crystal one...has only an AC of 21 yet the one before it has a huge..(i think im the 30's) ac? The crystal guy dont last very long compared to its predecessor and it makes the iron more preferable.

Not that i want an ultra-uber pet...it just seems the last one should be the best of the bunch.

The crystal is a different kind of tank from the iron one. I think it's weak against bludgeoning, as well. But on the upside.. take the crystal to fight mages. That's where it really shines, as nothing seems to get through.
