Need Help

Hello! I just started playing and I have been enjoying myself, in spite of random crashes. But now it is crashing whenever I try to enter the game. I had been entering a building in the starter area at the time.

I'm not sure why I'm getting crashes, but I did have trouble installing Q Project since I am using a GOG version of the NWN. The batch file to update Q Project isn't able to find the game. So I installed manually.

Anyway, if my character could be reset from that building I would be grateful.

Cannot aid you with this (or with any Tech glitch, I wager), but wanted to wish you Welcome! Aenea is a bit different from many of the other PW's in that danger can always be close, but there is usually a plan in place to avoid it, too. For myself, it is a bit like Skyrim, as the RP is voluntarily on the shoulders of the Players; not in the quests and exploration.

That said, there is an abundance of the latter, and bonus XP is awarded for finding new areas. As for Quests, there are several; have gone thru some upgrades, and really do not have details on how they work, or on their current state. When DM's become available again, there can be much more to offer in the way of versatility and storied goals.

Pls enjoy, and ask questions if others are around the world. One of the great reasons I have been coming here for so long are the people.

NWN is a game I keep going back to again and again. I love the persistent world experience and I have really enjoyed what I have seen of Aenea. It seems a vast and interesting world to explore. Thank you for the welcome.

If I want to restart my character does she need to be deleted server side? I wasn't far along so I don't mind. I will start another character in the meantime.

It would help if you could take a screenshot/name the building/area that is making you crash.. the DM's can then narrow the cause down to something more specific (like a tileset - and where it comes from, ie Project Q)... and aid in what is going wrong for you... ..

Also the server is set to auto-reset every day (around 24hrs between). This is done for a number of reasons such as clearing out random shop inventories, resetting player locations that may be stuck (everyone starts again from the astral conjunction), refillling "non-respawning once-per-reset-uber-bad-guys" and a host of server performance related clean up.

You can check the time for this (and other things) by typing ;;t into the chatbar. Aenea is a vast world to explore, with a lot of exciting features. It might be a bit "empty" of players at the moment, bit this is seasonal, it happens every year around the holiday season (between end of November - end of February) as real life projects/time/hobbies/family overtake the playerbase. This year will see my seventh year playing in this world and I'm itching to get some spare time back for logging in....

An un-updated project Q may be the cause.  When I get a chance, I will find the info for making the updater play nice with a GOG install. But no promises on when that'll be, as I've been extremely busy lately.

I'll try redownloading and installing Project Q manually. Maybe I missed something there.

I'll see about getting a screenshot, but the crash happened in the first area, Valorian's Vale. Once leaving the Inn it was a building nearby with produce on the sign. The crash is on the load screen.

I really look forward to exploring Aenea more!

Sorry, it wasn't produce on the sign. I think it is gold and gems. I was there at night before. xP

Sounds like Arkon's vault maybe.... if you get back in after server reset, please check the Vale area map for the label of the map pin of that building.

Update: I am able to load Arkon's storage without issue, as well as the Vale.

Please have a look at this post, particularly about overrides, and see if it helps.

I reset the server to help in testing.

Good news! After a fresh install of Project Q I was able to run the updater and all is well. No more cash going into (yes) Arkon's Storage.
