Aenea - Step By Step Install Guide (for new players).

Since the world is a changin I thought I'd start this here talkin session so's regular folks could have a place ter get some straight answers.

Now some of us were teached at home by our ma n' pa and wurnt sent off fer no fancy book learnin by strangers, those of ye wut were can keep yer snickerin to yerselves.
(maybe yer folks just couldn't stand ye and were glad ter see ye go)

When I got this here all figured out I plans ter do it meself so's folks will know it works, that way any new adventurers can just do wut I done.

1) Install main game Neverwinter Nights.
a) Install expansion Shadows of Undrentide.
b) Install expansion Hordes of the Underdark.

There are also two compilation box sets available Neverwinter Nights “Platinum” & “Diamond” either one of them may be used as they each contain the main game and both expansions.

2) Patch (update) your game to version 1.69

2a) If you downloaded your NWN game from gog.com, you may want to run the critical rebuilt patch, just to make sure there are no missing files.

3) Download & install all of the required resources for playing. Links are available here:

How To: Play Online (neverwinternights.info)

In the server listings, "The World of Aenea" is listed in the "PW Action" section.

In addition to connecting through the list of servers, you should have a button on the bottom of the screen in the multiplayer section that says "Direct Connect". If you click on this, you can type a server's IP address in. The IP address for Aenea is found on the main page of the website.

Thread cleaned up. Main post fully updated, with information even on the optional downloads (dialog.tlk, color palettes, and NWNCX).

I'm doing a new install on a new computer, and so far I've got the Platinum Edition installed, and the HOTU Critical Rebuild Patch.  Checked it in a non-CEP PW, and it's working fine.

So I would like to verify the install order for the rest: CEP 2.6, Project Q, and then the Aenea custom haks, in that order?

With those three, you can install them in any order.

Hope to see you IG in a few days... life's been ultra-nuts lately (as you might surmise from me taking a week to do this install).

One of the comments on the Project Q website says that NWN has to be installed in the root drive (C:/), as the Q updater won't be able to find it if it's in C:/Program Files (x86).  Is this true?

It would really be a royal pita if I have to reinstall the entire game just to correct Project Q's inadequacy.  If it is true, can I just edit the Project Q updater batch files instead to point it to the correct directory?  As my programming knowledge is poor, could someone tell me specifically how to edit the batch files?  I opened the force one but wasn't sure where it specified the directory.

Either that, or I might just see if my Q manual installation works and not use the Q updater.  If I've done the complete manual install, that should be all the files, right?

Had the same dilemma, but the installer worked for me - in contrary to copying the files.

Thanks for the feedback.  When I looked at the updater batch file, it seemed like it might be able to search down the directories, but I wasn't sure.

I did the manual install, and I got IG no problem and all seems to be working.  I'll just hope that f they update Q, that they'll have a manual install for that, too.

Just for future reference for anyone, I've discovered that all NWN content from everywhere is based upon an installation into C:\Neverwinter Nights\NWN.

Save yourself hassles by just putting it there.
