The Day A Dragon Came Through the Gate of Tesh....
.
A brave orc orders the charge on the interloper....
... but suffers dearly for his bravery....
... and the remainder of the orcs suffers....
... and suffer, their numbers dimished, their battle lost.
Alex Lunari roars in triumph, his foothold into the orcish territory established.
Not even the vaunted Orc Destroyers of Tesh escape the fire....
And Alex roars again, the sound echoing violently off the steel walls of the Imperial Palace...
... The only sound in a city littered with orc corpses.
.... was not a good day for the orcs.

i love it when DMs mess with things and either spawn strange things in unexpected places or take control of mobs and suddenly your fighting an intelligent enemy

I think that invitation's always there pinned to the back of anyone the DM's feel like messing with for an hour or two....
Just give us a hint first before things go all wacky.... like a trail of cheese sarnies, or that unmissable exploding gorgon...
Three of my greatest Aenean memories are from DM'ed highjinks..... I could (and did) just say what they were but then it spoils things for the DM's to pull the same tricks again... ((but one was a highly advertised event))...

ABSOLUTELY!! As RustyDios said, my best memories on other servers were when the DMs were messing with people. I was in a crypt with 2-3 other people and we were whackin away on zombies and mummies and such, and the DM spawned a Mummy Lord who said something to the effect of "You invaded my tomb, now you're doooooooommmmeeeedddd!"
He filled the ENTIRE map with mummies. Like wall to wall you couldn't move... so we barricaded ourselves in a room and fought the ridiculously large horde of undead for 30 minutes or something. Good times, you guys should do that kind of stuff
Re: The Day A Dragon Came Through the Gate of Tesh....
Wow... talk about digressing... LOL! But I might as well join you:
Speaking from both sides of the curtain (DM and player), I can say that both planned and impromptu DM sponsored events are usually well received and very memorable. Provided, of course the event is appropriate for the player's skills as well as the character's skills, OR the DM gives enough hints or even straight out gives notice that he is going to intervine in the "normal" course of events.
Like Sevenar and Rusty, some of my most cherished memories on servers of several games are when the staff is pulling the strings behind the curtain, even if *I* am the one pulling the strings.
Didn't I see somewhere on here about Dave doing an impromptu drunk in the SDI that turned out to be a hit?

Re: The Day A Dragon Came Through the Gate of Tesh....
I have been known to mess withthings yes.
I always try to be fair.
I dont like sending players up against things that are totalyl beyond them, or that have access to things the players themselves dont have access to.
I have a plotline I am still working on, and yes, I occaisionally take over monsters and make them act more intelligently.
Real life is kicking my rear at the moment... so I probably wont be on much till it normnalizes.... but I will take this thread as an invitation to do mess with players a bit more.
Ask jay braysin, drugo woscha, rayvennightkind and Kaliria Andressaat about the night they were ravaging the macedone burial isle and the 4 dracoliches woke up
They won... but there were a number of deaths (hehe)

Re: The Day A Dragon Came Through the Gate of Tesh....
I'm afraid I missed the night of the drunk.....
However as daveyeisley as said the macedone burial island was fun.... I'd noticed some time earlier (all the way other at plainscross an exploding gorgon, and a pack of displacer beasts mixed in with the normal invisible hunters)... we thought we'd lost the DM eyes by the time we went to the burial island.... oddly enough we (Kali and Me) were hunting for a helmet for a friend of ours (Ashad put out a call for a helm with level/ab drain immune)... well the skeletons of the burial island are the best plce to go helmet hunting.... .... once there I was joking around at the big flat platau at the top looked like an ideal landing spot for dracoliches, shame never put one up there..... .... panning the camera round I saw four... yes four....
We called in the help of Drugo and Rayven (the only other people on for the night, and rayven is paladin, so the divine help was deffinately needed).... in with the four draco's was an intellegent demi-lich too... and some bone golums, and some other random undead.... we died repeated but at least we got that helm... had one of the most memorable nights ever.... .... and if I recall there ws a nice chat with both DM Mythgar and DM Lide at the end... which explained why nearly all the enemies had some intellegence.... .... being messed with by one DM is fun, having two hang over your shoulder is even more fun.... ..... .....
My other nights of DM highjinks are the Talon Rampage and a night of countless undead in Caliths Well Crypt.... ..... ....

Ohhh MAN... you are really, really, REALLY begging for it... You are begging so badly, I wish I had a DM in Aenea just so I could mess with you. Unfortunately, I fear scaling the learning curve might be fatal even if was willing to make me a DM...

Dammit. I think I know that door. Too bad I don't have the "Pick Lock" skill or the "Knock" spell. I think that I'll have to post a note in the Inn and see if a Wizard or Rogue will take my commission. There's another couple of places I might need to hire another PC if I'm ever to see those areas.

The thing behind Alex I think was actually a red-slaadi, hence the joke of of a "side-order of salad with that"... at the time I think she was also able to summon a green and a white slaadi... though the ability seems to have been lost ....
