Used: Previewing before making your choice (appearence crafting)
Maybe making the changing of helmets and shields previewable before you finalize your decision would be nice.
After all you wouldn't want to mess up. I know a method that could be used for things that have no appearence and use an icon, and how to make it so that the icon is previewable before finalizing your choice.
Just a suggestion, nothing more, I'm actually already quite happy with how the new craft system is progressing.

I'm currently rescripting/redesigning the system for altering the appearance of weapons, shields, helms, and many other items. Once I get a chance to see if my experiment works (using a workbench to see icon changes for simple items and an invisible creature for showing weapon/helm/shield changes and simpler VC commands to cycle through available appearances), I'll finish the recoding and put up new information here in the forum and in the crafting conversation.

Yes, if all goes well, there will be some cloak appearance changing (to a degree...not all appearances will be available, since some I'm keeping for specific cloaks in-game...kind of like a few of the weapon appearances).
And yes, this should take care of the problem with items vanishing. If the coding works as I want it to, the scripting should just bypass missing/blocked appearances and even "wrap around" to the start or end of the list automatically.
