Hitler's BattleTech Game Goes Awry

I can't tell you how much I laughed at this, especially since I owned the original boxed Battletech games (before they were sued). They threw in 4e DnD and LARPing and a handful of other gaming references....

Oh, I certainly felt insulted. With the exception of the Furry comments, it almost all applied to me. That's what made me both uncomfortable but also made me laugh until I woke my wife up.

The link was sent to me by the original "Phyllick Delucian" (my Barbarian in Aenea is named after my friend and former DM, and he has a bookshelve full of Battletech merchandise), and I forwarded the link onto my brother who had a chest drawer full of SpellJammer products and now has fishing tackleboxes full of Warhammer 40k minis :-).

The only thing that would have made this video complete for me is if they made demeaning references to the GURPs games.

I love Spelljammer. The whole concept is cool, even if the rules ended up kind of "clunky".

For my PnP game a couple of years ago, I actually converted it to 3rd Edition D&D. Nothin' like a little space piracy! Yar!

Can't relate to the other stuff. Never got into other game systems in my 20 years of gaming...just A D & D 2nd and D&D 3rd.

I still have my box version of Spelljammer in the basement! Woo hoo! Nothing says loving like that big dwarven citadel!

That's the point where the laughter really burst from me.

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with SP. I find it funny how even us gamers artificially divide ourselves into "better" or "worse" categories based on what I believe are superficial differences. It's one thing to have a preference for a particular game or style of play, it's another thing to condemn others simply because their preferences don't match our own.

Hey, now ... first of all, I'm a tremendous Zelazny fan, so it's cool by default. second, I recently found a copy of it and am in the process of looking through it ... no dice ... revolutionary idea!

The reason why I felt insulted is less so by the games mentioned (as what matters with games much anyway) but by the use of 'furries' in the video. In the video it is spoken as if we are a bunch of over-reactive, hyper, babyish annoying runts. I would view myself far from that, I only rarely am over-reactive, and have not experienced being hyper since I became a teenager years ago.

I wonder why everyone has to pick on furries? Probably cause of the rare few sex crazed freaks everyone likes to attack the majority... *sighs*
