Your next Hall-of-Fame idea Empty Not Used: Your next Hall-of-Fame idea

Post by Sophiastra Fri May 08, 2009 12:58 pm

I am not sure if it can be done, but if it can it will be The Amethyst Dragon that figures it out. And I am sure it will win a Hall-of-Fame in the process.

I have always wanted to be able to customize or at least to have some static diversity in the text colors. I have searched the vault and I don't see this anywhere. It would be great, for example, to be able to change the Party chat text to a color that is different from the general Talk color. The more customization the better!

That can be done easily... go to your nwn directory, and open up the nwnplayer.ini file. Scroll down through it until you find the line that says [Chat Colors]. Under it will be the various text modes. Replace the numbers with the RBG values you want the text to be, and you're good to go Smile

Note that it doesn't change text colors of strings created by the module, such as the "so-and-so has died at scu-and-such place" or the elder brain sucking your XP string... those are always gonna be in red.

I can't find the line you speak of in my ini? Sad Sad, this is something I'd love to be able to do.

You should be able to add it in youself Smile

Here's the colors I am using currently, just copy and past into your nwnplayer.ini:

[Chat Colors]
TalkColor=255,255,255
ShoutColor=255,255,128
WhisperColor=192,255,255
TellColor=0,255,255
ServerColor=192,192,192
PartyColor=0,255,0
DMColor=255,255,0

Simply change the numbers to the RBG values of the colors you want.

NWNWiki also has a few other bit of info about what you can change int hat particular file, including trap colors.

You can change the colors of item names and the like.
I tend to find it a fun thing to keep my characters wearing, using, or making items of a name that is colored in their favorite colors or preferences.
I believe that you need to do the following.
%textcolor("ItemName", R, G, B)
Then you will have an item of that name color specified by the RGB.
Oh, this tend to work with item renaming, including on online modules (any server), but some people tend to make items of specific colored names in their modules.

Aha! I just plugged in MJ's values to see if/how it worked... not bad, I think I just need to swap tell and party colors to keep me from getting confused.

Not used, since this is something handled on the players's side, and the info is out there.
