I seem to be messing up everything...
Greetings Sire,
I'm sorry for all the trouble I'm causing... I have no idea why?
I keep finding my corpse laying face down in the sand...
or meeting myself at the inn...
is there some special way I should be logging out or something?
again I apologize for my ignorance,
DZ

Na, just logging out as normal is fine. Whatever is causing the weirdness, I'm sure would be able to figure it out

It might have something to do with your internet connection. Is there anyone else playing from your internect connection (through the same router)? That has been known to cause problems with both games are set to use the same playing port.
I'm not sure how to fix this, but I know the solution is out there (because I've read about it, just can't remember it right now).

Sorry...
Greeting Sire,
INDEED! One of my friends I game with over our LAN said she
tried to log in and play yesterday but it locked up before she reached the inn.
We shall refrain from playing at the same time… we don’t
want to cause any more problems…
Again… please accept my apologies for the upheaval…

It's fine if you both play. One of you just has to make a minor edit to one of your files.
* goes looking for some information... *
Ok, one of you should go into your NeverwinterNights/NWN directory and find the nwnplayer.ini file. Open it in Notepad (or other plain text editor).
Under "[Profile]" find the line that says:
Client Port=5121
If it has a different number (like 5120), change it by one digit (5122?). Just so it's different than the other computer on the LAN.
Save the file.
You should now be able to both play at the same time.

I wonder if Ra Cha Chongo and I just ended up set to different ports for some unknown reason, because we frequently both play and share a network and have never had any issues that we know of? Hmm. Have to check later.

As far as I know, this is absolutely correct. Another player, Mr. Period had some issues when he had visitors to his network trying to play along with him. He adjusted port numbers and I believe the issue was solved. If he reads this, I am hoping he will respond to confirm or clarify for us.

port number change... YES!
YES! That was the solution… INDEED!
We gamed online for more than an hour with no problems… we
went to another PW just in case it was something else – we didn’t want to mess
you up again!
Tomorrow we will return to Aenea to avenge my many deaths!
Thank you so much!

Yep, the ports took care of the issue. There was, however, one other side-effect - a copy of my character ended up in the character folder of everybody logged in at the time. had to manually purge the folders.
And now back to vacation. At Mt. Rushmore headed to the Badlands.
