Not Used: Hellball
Hellball is a wonderful spell.
Its reflex save is its biggest drawback.
4 different damage types can be both good AND bad... applying reistance to each can
nerf the damage a lot, but it can also get past immunities this way...
What I think would make it better, without unbalancing it:
Get rid of that save.... nobody is dodging a tactical nuclear blast.
In exchange for this, cut its damage potential in half... 5d6 of each type.
However, as this in itself could make the spell *too weak* to be worth
investing a feat in... why not *also* make it automatically *maximized*?
So... sure, you cant do 240dmg anymore.... but you can *rely* on
always getting 120, 30 of each type, acid, fire, electrical and sonic.
This way, the improved evasion enemy is still taking *some* damage,
and even if they have reistance 15 to each, some is getting thru it.
Reliable... worth the feat... not overpowering.
And again.... no save makes it easier on the server.... as does *static* damage.
That way hellballing may not always be referred to as the Epic Lag spell.

Re: Not Used: Hellball
I'd say just cutting the save would be enough.
It would still be possible to 'dodge' hellballs. They cover a simply massive area, however, the damage is dealt to those within line-of-sight of the blast... given it's relatively slow detonation from time of casting (except when the caster casts it directly on himself), the opponents would theoretically have a split second to dodge behind a wall or such.
If they can't.... BOOM. STBY

Re: Not Used: Hellball
It was my understanding that Evasion and like feats do not apply for this Epic spell. Take a look here to see notes and issues:

Re: Not Used: Hellball
Regular Evasion may not, but I have cast it enough to know that *improved* evasion totally negates the spell on a successful save... and that is just pants...
