Jan. 9, 2010: Skill Use Markers and Portraits

Skill Use Markers:

With the latest hak update, I've added new placeable models for "skill use markers" (balance, climb, fishing, jump, swim). I'm working my way through the different game areas changing the existing "invisible" ones to the new ones. As of right now, I'm done up through the Celestan Ocean (going in alphabetical order).

Portraits:

Just tested this, and it works! Not in the help files yet, but it will be soon.

There is a new VC command as of the last reset: ";;tool portrait xxxxxxx" Replace xxxxxx with the name of a portrait (minus the h, l, m, s, or t on the end, so "Aenea_Fire1_" would work, but not "Aenea_Fire1_h") to instantly change your character portrait while in-game. Do a simple ";;tool portrait " (notice the space at the end?) to find out the name of your current portrait.

I'll eventually be posting a list of portraits on the website (with small images for browsing), but for now, you can look at your added ones by going to your NWN/portraits directory.

Thanks ... much easier to browse through, and I just spent the good part of the day looking through my portrait folder file by file (well every fifth one ending with H ~ they're easier to see the whole picture... )..... ...

I did notice however I have an awful lot of portraits 426 to be precise ((well that's a guess actually.. I have 2134 files in my portrait folder, divided by 5 files per portrait = 426.8 ... so I must be missing a file for one of them somewhere ... .. or I've got four "repeats")) .... ... .... ...

... And I'm not even 100% sure where all my extra portraits come from.... if I wanted to change to one that I have that is NOT Aenean/MJ's/CEP/default will I still be able to using the portrait command ??

Great link Some of those portraits aren't in the portrait pack though, would love to see them in a new portrait pack addition

Yes. You should see it just fine, while those without that file would just see the "default portrait" (you know, that brown-hooded/backlit one).

The preview list will be expanding in a while, once I get time to do more digging.

If anyone wants to contribute to the effort...it would be nice if someone could use NWN Explorer to dig into the NWN and CEP portrait files, exporting the "_m" (medium) ones as tga files while cutting the "m" off the back end of the file names, then sending those files to me in a zip/rar/7z file for mass cropping/converting/uploading. (Yes, this new VC command can assign you almost any portrait image used in the game, not just those in your portraits folder).

Just uploaded another 1108 portrait preview images, which will finish out the list as far as I am concerned. PC portraits and NPC/monster portraits.

That.... is a lotta portraits!
