Not Used: Cert'amen
In another game i played called Ars Magica...they had a thing called "Cert'amen". Basically it was the atypical "wizards duel" where two wizards faced off to settle disputes. An area could be created where twin magical symbols were on the floor (pentagrams come to mind) and both wizards pick a spot and can then not leave the symbols without forfeiting the duel.
The only thing they can do is cast at each other...that way magical skill and speed determined the outcome and not random hack and slash stuff. They would have to determine thier spell selection before hand of course. Also it would be non lethal combat...not sure how that would be implemented...maybe when one reaches zero the combat ends or something.
Also when all spells are exausted it would have to check each wizards current hp to determine a winner or the battles might end with both wizzys standing around staring at each other lol
Just a thought i had

Re: Not Used: Cert'amen
If big, glowy, magical-type ground symbols were added to the illusory object illusion list, you could just do it in the Arena, no? Sounds like it could be fun, though

Hmm this seems vaguely familar. Isn't there an old player's house in Macedone which has somthing like this in one of the rooms? There's no scripts to control the battle but there is a post that has the rules on it that sound just like that.

Grace's house in Macedone has a cert'amen arena. I believe Crideas's shack has one too.

Re: Not Used: Cert'amen
right...but you can only get to those if you are allowed in. i was thinking it could be put in the guild building in macedone so that all could use it when they wanted...for rp or whatever.
Re: Not Used: Cert'amen
Put in the guild would be a good idea. But Grace's house (Whomever that is) allows free access to cert'amen. I just checked in-game.

Re: Not Used: Cert'amen
Aye.. Grace's place in Macedone allows free access to her Cert'amen arena, with (hopefully) the same rules as the one in Crideas' shack.... It is a "safe" spot for mages to do some dueling without catching innocent bystanders in the process... although there is no special scripting or anything like the arena rules in force.... .... Grace's password protected door is just past the entrance to the cert'amen arena..... designed deliberately that way for the benefit and joy of all ye other players

Re: Not Used: Cert'amen
This can always be done in-game in the Bloodsand Pit if two casters wish to duel like this.
