Yup, a Nibble is an amount of data.
A bit (also known as Binary Digit) is the basic unit of data measurement. As you know, binary is composed of zeros and ones.... so a bit has only two possible values, 0 or 1.
A nibble is equal to 4 bits.
A byte is 8 bits.
Nibbles have a total of 16 possible values, thus they are sometimes called Hex Digits, from the hexidecimal numbering system.
Sometimes bytes are split in half (called a half octet) and expressed as two hexidecimals (two nibbles) this is often done with segments of MAC addresses for networking equipment.

Re: A simple question...
heh! While I have an Assoc Degree in Comp Programming, it is not only in rather ancient languages, but I cannot type either. What I can do though is remember ancient puns for when applicable times arise.
Now back to regular scheduled program....
