Some Player House Questions
Would it be possible to make a house using exteriors instead of interiors?
I was thinking of making the house for my winged elf character up in the branches of the same tree that will be Rosalee's house. I think it would be nice to have little rope bridges between each room. I know she can fly, but the bridges would be for guests. I am asking now, because I am still making Rosalee's house, and I would need to put a door on the top floor. It would be sealed for now of course. Was just a thought, but I think it would be fun.
Also, is there a way to play a brownie character in the house building module? I figured out how to make the chairs lower for my brownie to sit on, but I am not sure if I have the height right.
Thank you for any answers you may have.

Re: Some Player House Questions
yes....when your in your mod type this...after you push the er....its the little wavy line ~ usually on the upper left of keyboard to access console commands...type...
DebugMode 1 *push return*
SetAppearance 1002 *push return*
you should change into the dynamic brownie in less then a second.
both commands are typed one line at a time while in game.

Re: Some Player House Questions
Yes, you can use an exterior tileset instead of an interior one.
I think the cep forest one has bridges/platforms up in the trees. Or you could use a forest "pit" terrain and use the bridge connector for the effect. There isn't really a terrain option for "rope bridges" (unless I've just missed it somewhere).

Re: Some Player House Questions
Thanks guys!
I really appreciate it.
I've been playing with the toolset a lot lately.
It is a lot of fun, but it can be frustrating too. lol
Oh, I have one more question.
I put the piano player, and the harp player in my house, and they played their instruments in the toolset, but in the game they just sit there like statues.
Do they need a script to make them play music.

Re: Some Player House Questions
Go into their individual properties and uncheck the "static" checkbox for those and the animations should start.
Re: Some Player House Questions
Thank you.
Well, my idea of sinking the chairs sort of worked. My brownie sits at the right height now, but her legs go through the front of the chair.
Guess I'll have to try some foot stools. They are pretty small. Maybe a sitable mushroom for the garden. I'll have to try that. The toolset is fun lol.

Re: Some Player House Questions
Hello, it's me again. Still building my house. lol
Over 80 placeables now, so I should be done soon. However I have some more questions.
My piano and harp players animate now, but I don't hear any music. Is there a way to give them sound? I looked in the sounds area, but I couldn't find any music, and I couldn't figure out how to use custom sounds.
Also does it matter where I put the waypoints that have my log name and character name?
There is one thing that seems strange to me. If the house uses a password system to open the doors, then what are the three keys for?
Thank you for any answers. I hope to be done soon, so I can play some more. lol

Re: Some Player House Questions
You can leave out the keys, they're from before I implemented the passwords.
You can put the waypoints anywhere.
I'm not sure there are sounds for the harp or piano that are switched on/off with existing scrpts. The harp player in the Sleeping Dragon Inn is there just to explain the area-wide music I have set in the area properties.

Re: Some Player House Questions
Thank you, The Amethest Dragon.
I guess I will put a background music too. If I can figure out how to play them, so I can see which one I like.
Nice, I can remove the key chest. That gives me one more placeable, so 9 left now lol.

Re: Some Player House Questions
To test background music:
In the main toolset window, near the top, are three green buttons for toggling hearing the different sounds in the toolset. Toggle on the middle one (play ambient music in area). You'll start to hear the music if there's any set for your area.
Now, edit your area's sound properties (Edit > Area Properties > Audio). Change the Music, Day section, then click Apply, which will switch the music right away so you can hear it.
You can do the same with ambient sounds.

Re: Some Player House Questions
Well, I finished my house, and emailed it to Amethyst Dragon. I must say, the toolset can be quite fun at times, but it has kept me away from the server too much.
I just want to thank all the nice dms and players here for all the help and suggestions, and for answering my questions. A thank you to my son for helping me get started.
If anyone would like to see my house when it is on the server, please let me know. I even wrote a song, but it will just be in the house for now.
Thank you everyone

We're happy to help, Rosalee! Anytime at all! And yes, I think that at least one of my PCs would like to slide an eyeball across the home you've designed!

Re: Some Player House Questions
What can cause the game to crash every time I try to load the area? I got one section of the area to load right, so I doubt it's the tileset, and I've been in the tileset inside the game before as well.
I've tried removing every placable that should be in my LoS and still nothing.

Are you using any mythallar crystals or similar placeables? If so, check in the properties of each to make sure the box for static is unchecked.
Re: Some Player House Questions
Good to know, thanks. Didn't know that they couldn't be static

Re: Some Player House Questions
Dear Rosalee,
I would love to see your house, please?
It is something that seemed like such a huge job, after seeing Crideas' and oh, Alistair's and oh, I just dont know who all's house I've been in...*grins*.
Anyway, seemed like it was gonna be complicated, so I never tried it. Just making one weapon that worked in game was kind of a challenge for me.
Kudos! and Well Done! on your new home.
I'll bring a housewarming gift *smiles*
Sincerely,
Lauralai
(Ruby or Lucky)

Re: Some Player House Questions
Thank you Lauralai. I would love to show it to you.
I thought it would be hard as well, but once I started, it was not too hard to figure out. Well, I had a lot of nice people to help me learn. lol *grins*
The toolset was quite fun to play around with. I wish I could have put more placeables though. Was too many spots I had to leave plain.
Anyways, it has six floors, with an underground garden too.
Send me a tell the next time you see me, and I would be happy to show it to you.

Re: Some Player House Questions
I was wondering if it is possible that 2 players get together to design an area for a PC each. The idea is that Qarin (my PC) and Ari (Romeo's PC) have a Ranger's Respite built high in some trees. Do each of us need to pay 500k and both talk to the dwarf or just 1 gather all the money and do the hiring?
