Piety gain... could more piety be gained from altar donations/sacrificing dead baddies? For 5 hours of grinding beholders and sacrificing everyting, the net piety gain was under 200.... and that was a substantial (multimillion) amount of loot sacrificed. I can't think of any other creature that drops as much expensive loot in as vast a quantity... Piety gain from sacrificing in other hunting areas is next to nothing.

Likewise, donating a 1000 GP at a time an at altar will net 3 piety or so. It can be somewhat tedious, and especially for a character who'd like to use the "bless me" command more than once a month and/or doesn't want to spend an hour or two spamming the altar for any significant piety gain.

Agreed ... but you know what I'd like to see back ?... the occasional random blessing from your deity.. I know that I was one of the people that petitioned for the new system, and whilst I really like it, without being able to build up any significant piety in any amount of time, it becomes rather moot...

....Also the occasional outburst gave another insight into a character, and always gave me the feeling (especially when a combat-specific one fired mid peaceful conversation) that the gods exist and haven't quite got the grasp of what the mortals are up to .. Smile ....

Is it possible we could get some kind hybrid thingi with the system as it is now, but also with the chance of any of the "bless me" commands firing spontaneously (at no piety cost)?

One simple thing would be to fix the commands for donating a selected amount of gold. Assuming that works, massing Piety is certainly possible.

I'm in favor of both suggestions here though, as I did like the randomness a bit, but also appreciate being able to trigger it manually. The horrid gain from bodies and loot pretty much nixes any hope of actually using the effects to any decent use in most cases.

The vc command fixed would be great.

I'd still think a slight increase in piety from sacrificing would be called for too though. And a tad more for donating at an altar too. I just noticed that for my 40th level characters, donating 1000 gold gains less piety than offering a prayer of praise.
