Let there be light ... on his head!
A quickie question ... I never explored this in game, and I was wondering about it all day today ...
In PnP, a PC could cast the light spell on a creature/foe's head, and cause a bubble of light to blind the target, giving the PC a nice bonus. Does the light spell work like that in NwN?

Ah. Is that something that can be changed, do you reckon? And what might be involved to change it?

Re: Let there be light ... on his head!
In NWN, the light spell (and continual flame) merely illuminate the target and a space around it. There isn't really a way to target just a creature's eyes/face. For inflicting blindness, there's pretty much just the blindness / deafness spell (until you get to mass blindness and sunburst).
I could work on scripting a way to do it with some VC option coding and recoding the light spell, but then there's the problem of "does it have eyes"? The script would have to check against every creature model (and tail model for scaled appearances) every time it is cast. A rather "heavy" script for a very minor effect (which isn't actually in 3rd edition D&D...more of a house rule some people carried over from 2nd Edition or earlier). Not something I'm likely to do anytime soon.

There's always Flare... cantrip. Doesn't blind, but it lowers the target's AB by a point or two by well, making a flash of light in the target's eyes.
