5 Year Aeneaversary Stuff

Treasure Hunt:

The treasure hunt is a search across the lands of Aenea for 5 different magical crystals that can be used later for free upgrades to existing items. Each type of crystal can be found/used once per character.

There are 5 different types of crystals, each valid for a different type of upgrade. Crystals can be used for DM-given after the week-long hunt is over.

There are 20 locations that the crystals are hidden in. Each is "found" via a trigger (no Search check required), and the same trigger won't necessarily give the same type of crystal to different characters. Once you've found five, the remaining triggers will no longer activate for your character.

The hidden locations are scattered around Aenea. A few are where people may be expected to walk, others are in commonly used areas but might be off the beaten path. One or two are in areas that may not get visited often.

If any want to, feel free to post the types of crystals you've found. Just do not post the locations where you found them. Razz

Creatures:

Three new dragon-related creatures will be spawning in various locations. These can be dangerous. In most cases only a single such creature will spawn.

Player Gift:

To celebrate 5 years of being online, there's a little gift for each character that's been reserved. Just walk up to the innkeeper at the Sleeping Dragon. You might also want to order a drink to celebrate!

Merchant of the Fifth Order:

He's got limited-edition gear for sale for a variety of classes. Much of it is geared toward level 12+ use. I'll be adding some more affordable things soon.

WOOT! I have seen all five crystals thus far, though this is between multiple characters. They are very powerful based on the norm, and could be quite helpful for any PC, I believe. The ones seen thus far are:

* +5 Enhancement/ Attack
* +5 AC bonus
* +5 ST (Universal, I believe)
* Immunity to Spell Lvl 1 -3
* Whirlwind property

Two characters have found two each, and my active PC's all have at least one. But I have only found three locations, so I recommend re-exploring areas.

Fellow people of Aenea, beware the Vile Hydra has been spotted in the Shieldlands... at least one of these beasts has been slain, but many more may still be lurking ... ...

I have been searching, and having a little luck, but I am ready for a clue or two!

I thought I was seeing a pattern after the two I found, but when Alatha came up dry I decided I must be wrong.....

Anyway, still having a blast, and love the Orc War Riders and the slave rebellion.......FREE TESH!

In same avenue -- Beware! A pack of Invisible Hunters; deadly predators able to turn themselves invisible at will, has been spotted in Plaincross.

New adventurers may purchase potions of "Clear Sight"(around 200gp) or "True Seeing" (around 2500gp) to defeat the Invisible Hunter's ability to become unseen at will. Check the Campton Mage Tower, or All Things Magical in Mountainholm Castle, I believe the potions can be found at one or both shops.

But I do believe the creatures has been given HiPS feat to represent the "invisible at will" thing. So, basically what I am trying to say, See Invisibility spells won't have any effect. Wouldn't know about True Sight, has it been edited on Aenea from the default spell?

They really are turning invisible (rather than hiding), it's just a natural ability for them rather than through a spell. It happens automatically, without them having to take an action.

Oh, and the invisible hunters are normal Aenean creatures. The ones added for the 5-year week are all dragon-related in some way.

A couple of clues:

Your search in the ruined city of Alatha should not come up dry. Walk your way around every corner and building.

Those orcs may have stolen a crystal and left it high and dry.

One of my characters wound up with two red and zero blue, not a big issue for her, she will get whirlwind attack anyway, but I think a script muswt have misfiored.

Personally, I have found 9 locations myself.

The treasure hunt is indeed finished.

In approximately 2 hours I will be able to log on for a while (an hour or two) to start in on applying the treasure hunt crystals to PCs' equipment. Smile

I'll have more time during the day tomorrow.

For those wondering, here is the list of locations that the crystals could have been found:

Macedone Sewers, north section
K'Rath Scrar, on the south wall
Alatha, inside Temple of Harcorth
Calithia, docks
Mountianholm Castle, All Things Magical
Shieldlands, eastern road
Shantaharnarama, in a foggy field
Deathwater Island, on the beach
Macedone's Burial Island
Valorian's Vale, 5 jumps inside the Bored Wizard's Maze (which is just beyond the checkers board and chess board)
Celestan Ocean, through the magical mirror
Blackroot
Swamp of Mists, kobold cave
Underdark, mushroom "garden" cave
Forge, near the Wanderer's Portal
The Rift, deep inside
Dawnholm, just below the Wanderer's Portal
Crystal Tower grounds, inside wall
Valorian's Vale Graveyard, above the cave entrance
The Dark Realm, on the Isle of Bones

I still have some characters that have not used their crystals yet, and have been contemplating retirement or reincarnation for a couple. Must I lose the crystals, too? Or may these be given to another character, or the reborn one via DM?

Next time I get a chance to be online at the same time as you, I can transfer them for you for reincarnation. Retired characters just lose everything anyway, since they're not being used anymore.

Thanks; will do this for at least one of my casters. For my retiring folks, I already started selling a bunch of loot on the server so someone can benefit from their experiences rather than just XP.
