How about having a portable hole have multiple pages (6 or even 
like stationary chests do. That would make it more similar to the pnp portable holes we all remember (10x10x10, many could you store some stuff in that thang!).
But only one per character allowed, and if you accidentally put your Bag of Holding in there, bye bye birdie.

heh! Based on many of the TARDIS models seen in the tiles over these many years, all my PC's would have gone *BOOM* ages ago simply thru visitation....
