Tomes of ???

I have been slaughtering orcs, beholders and dragons when I find them
I am searching for some tomes but apart from a kind donation many moons ago I have not even seen one

Question:
Do they actually exist as a drop?

OR as I expect are they just a very rare drop?

All and any info appreciated

Occasionally in Beholder and Lich treasures, and some Bosses. But they are are rare, and most often received during DM Special events.

Let's see....

hosts an Anniversary bash every year ca. June 16th; each year seems to have a theme, and offers something a bit different each time.

And the other DM's sometimes get a bit inspired and creative, and host the occasional event; sometimes with surprising results. On one such event to test some new monsters, an all out war with the Undead occured in a distant graveyard, but the FX caused such havoc that neither side could use AoE spells. It lasted HOURS!!!

There have been themed weekends, and storylines that etch themselves into the Aenean lore; hence the ghost of the Vale, I believe. Dragons, Undead, Orc invasions, etc have all occured, and long term effects are still observed now (eg; Orc scouts, ruined cities, domes, etc).

Unfortunately, RL happens, and circumstances prevent folks from playing; sometimes for long periods of time. This is why the DM shops have been down for a while, sparce or short visits; not only for the Staff, but Players like myself, too. I had to sit and watch for a year or more from these Forums, and I still have battles with Tech problems.

The best solution I see is simply ask politely for a future event, and allow the staff to have time to plan and implement the festivities. And if the Players have ideas, has always been willing to listen and store these kinds of things away for such rainy days; just pls do not expect parents of toddlers to be able to play as much as the collegiate obsessed.

that sounds truly awesome! [the bit about the epic battles and such, not the bit about rl interfering... ] i hope you manage to get your technical problems ironed out soon and can join in the fun! i will mark june 16th on my calendar.

I am also in the process of trying to cobble together a book merchant, much in the same vein as daveyeisley's dwarf and MannyJabrielle's Maker ... she will use recipes to dole out different + values of the books ... it's to help compensate for the fact that many of us DMs are AWOL and unable to run events/shower players with awesome reward items.
