Signs of Aging in Culture
I remember the blank faces and stares of folks when I used to try and explain D&D and other PnP role-playing games. But the flight of imagination and nod to storytelling has now entered into the computer gaming industry, and is now a highly profitable field of business.
Not so today. Today I look at what some young people are calling fun and entertaining, and now I am the one staring into space wondering what has happened to the children of tomorrow. And I cringe....

This may not be as stupid as taping vids of epic Fails and stunts; nor is it as silly as ... well, something else must be sillier. But for now, I shake my head in dismay learning that college kids have far too much time on their hands.

Seeing that makes me happy, and yet makes me shake my head at the same time.
I'm glad they adapted the game and they enjoy it, but part of me still thinks the adaptation is ... lacking....

Playing a mix of soccer and rugby while running about with a broom twixt their legs and a handle aimed wherever is simply asking for trouble....
And we worried about getting poked in an eye!

I have no real problem with it, save those goofy broomsticks ... I mean, c'mon, y'all, let's be real now ... kinda reminds me of nerf assassins ...

Re: Signs of Aging in Culture
See, at the LARP I frequent, we have a simple policy...
Safety First, Roleplay Second, Rules Third.
That's pretty much the *only* reason we don't use real weapons and we defer to plumbing parts....
But, that being said, we do go as all out as we can with props and the like. I must give them kudos for at least trying to give it some level of immersion.

"Virgins for life" comment was funny. I'd also second Elhanan's comment about males likely getting very bruised by those broomsticks. Maybe potentially nerfed for life.
I think that instead of broomsticks between their legs, they should add a bit of parkour to it, to really get the spirit of flight and the zinging around other players and obstacles.

Reproduction is not the only matter of concern; being able to sit properly is everyone's problem if that hit came from behind. Gives 'rear mgt' an entirely new meaning....
