I am taking a forced hiatus from the game

I have been having issues with models not appearing properly in game ever since I accidentally overridden some files trying to get other content for other mods. Silly me cant seem to figure out what I have done wrong. I completely uninstalled NwN (I have a GOG edition) and re-installed everything from square one. When I log in I can get to my player-list for Aenea but right after it starts loading, Ill show a strange mixture of HUDs with my toolbar as if I'm loaded but still a progress bar and Ill APPCRASH. Does it every-time. Apparently Gamespy is no longer with us but I cant see how its related. Any ideas or support on what I might have done wrong here would be appreciated.

When you uninstalled your NWN, did you clear out its Program Files directory?

I'm not sure if GOG puts those in a GOG sub-directory or not.

But if you didn't check that the NWN directory was completely emptied, any files that you yourself put there, like overrides, will likely stay there as the computer wouldn't know to remove those.

After uninstalling again, go search your Program Files for a folder named Override in a NWN or GOG/NWN directory, as if this theory is correct, it will still be there. And will need to be manually deleted, along with any other files or folders in that NWN directory, before you reinstall.

Also, you will need to install all the Aenea haks before you really can tell about incorrect textures, because those haks reskin a million things in the game.

Completely wiped the directory after uninstall like you said so nothing was let behind. Reinstalled and now downloading the Aenea files. The following files were in my Overide folder after reinstalling even though I deleted the entire NWN directory taking out all the old custom downloaded content. Are these okay and part of the native game?

Yes, those nine files are Bioware updates for the naked game, and need to stay.

As long as between Uninstall and Re-Install you wiped the entire NWN directory, you should be good to go.

Greatly appreciate your help with this. My ex did all the installs in the past and I'm a bit of a noob at it. The aenea.tlk file, where does that go? Do I make a tlk folder and put it in there or does it go free in the main directory with the other loose files. Also will custom portaits mess with anything?

In the NWN directory, there will be a sub-folder named 'tlk', which is where the aenea.tlk goes. If you don't have that folder there already, it will probably be created when you install CEP2.4, which is also required for Aenea, as several CEP tlk files will go there.

Custom portraits will not mess up anything, just put the Aenea portraits in with whatever is already there, in the Portraits folder. Portraits can mess up other portraits only if they have the same name and so would overwrite.

I should have made sure you installed CEP 2.4 first, as is implied in the order of the additional files on the Downloads page. I'm not sure if there might be one file in the Aenea haks that might get overwritten by CEP if you do them in reverse order. But if that seems to happen, you can just re-install the Aenea haks over everything again without uninstalling anything.
