500k Voucher Upgrade
Raiden has received a 500k voucher to use.
I have some basic ideas on making amendments to his last ring, but I still have about 300k to spend
BUT, no ideas on what to do?
raiden is an unarmed monk, with almost max dex etc. used upgrades for Damage reduction and resists but have no idea on what to spend it on
SO, any ideas would be appreciated for me to think about
Thanks in advance

Re: 500k Voucher Upgrade
I've been recently considering my 500k voucher.
The first thing I wished was that it might be two 250k vouchers, just for this issue, of it really being too large for one item.
But, in absence of fixing that, I'd suggest spells. They cost a lot and will eat up the rest of that voucher easily. Just remember that they will cast at their native level (as marked on the spell in the toolset), and so you should do mainly defensive ones and those that don't depend on caster level. I assume you've already got your physical and energy damage reductions all covered?
Myself, I'm considering between a ring, boots, or a belt to do this with, and then asking myself what spells does she use a lot of. You can put up to eight spells on an item. Like Teleport, Transference, Improved Invisibility (this one in unlimited uses is even reasonable).... whatever would be suitable for your character.

Re: 500k Voucher Upgrade
For Raiden, I suggest pumping STR to +10 item max in order to put more gusto into his punches. This is in addition to the +5 AC that may be needed in any single category (eg; Dodge on boots unless one already uses perm Haste).

You can add permahaste?
Didnt realise that. Now that sounds good
And thanks Ramana, the spells are a good idea as he's a melee.
Got my sequencer already fitted also

Nope.Belarric wrote:You can add permahaste?
How about immunity to a spell school? Of course, as a high level monk your spell resistance kinda makes that moot.
Yeah, so utility spells on an item do sound good, especially if you're not a spellcaster yourself.
You could also do some skill bonuses for skills you don't have many ranks in (especially cross-class skills).
Saving throw bonuses? I know, monk = insane saves already, right?
Hard to say what else you might want...your upgrades last night showed you have pretty much everything covered that a monk might want on a custom item.

No, but some Aenean Monks also are Clerics to Gort, and can wear some perm Haste boots that are sold/ found.

Someone mention Valoriana's name ?
And yes spells are good for a 500k custom item, may I suggest the "shadow" line (Shadow conjuration, shades, etc).. these spells take up one "item spell slot" have a decent native caster level for the spells they provide and each one gives a selection of "commonly used" spells ....
The farstep utility spells are also a good choice (teleport, transference, summon ally, magehound, teleportation circle, word of recall) and are great for aiding in both solo and party adventures.
Maybe a few free feats that you might like from the toolset list (maybe disarm? whirlwind attack?, can't remember exactly what is there)... maybe even a "dead end" feat you already have (ie; one that isn't part of a tree/needed for another feat) that you could put on the item and then re-level to pick something better on your actual PC....
Resistences and immunities are always a good idea as is regeneration (or a spell - monstrous regen etc)... ..
And I would still recommend to make your custom items as a ring. You can then always keep your custom ring on and use your other slot for all the aenean good ones
((Or your custom item a shield/weapon (sorry unarmed fighting monks) as you can double here as well depending on your PC's setup, use an awesome Aenean shield/weapon and a custom shield/weapon))....
