The AI in the OC
Funny little tidbit about the A.I. from the original NWN campaign engine...
Unless you play thru Hordes of the Underdark with Linu as your henchman, you
are never going to run into this, and I only encountered it when I bought the
Infinite Dungeons Premium Module...
If you read my latest "Crideas' adventure notes", you may have gotten a chuckle
out of my embarassing "aww... crap... he's hostile... im dead" moment with the
Balor I summoned....
Well, this isnt actually the first time a summoned Balor that was supposed to be on
my side has killed me.
In the infinite dungeons module, I found that the Cleric hirelings were some of the
more reliable and powerful allies to bring with me thru Undermountain.
Occaisionally, usually right after I and my henchman had rested and regained
our spells, as soon as I got into my first combat... I would notice that two
or more hostile Balors would get summoned... even when there were no enemy
spellcasters on the opposing side...
I finally realized that the AI was making MY clerics summon the balors,
but without having them first use protection from evil... hence the
Balors came in hostile and imploded my whole party more than a few times...
This ended up with my character having to memorize extend spell protection
from evil for each cleric i had with me, so when the doofuses cast "gate",
it didnt wipe my party...lol
