Crafting Arrows ?

My toon picked up a huge amount of Craft Component type feathers from an infestation of carnivorous chickens, so I thought, why not try to fletch some arrows.

Not knowing anything about crafting anything but clothes and traps, I went looking for instructions, as to what may be required in the way of feat, skill, wood or other components, vc commands, etc.

But after searching the forum, I can't seem to find any mention of the capability for crafting arrows, so does it exist?

It isnt listed here. I am guessing, but I think the only arrows that are craftable are magic ones using the Enchant Arms and Armor feat.

There's also the option to craft mundane arrows via the default NWN crafting.
It doesn't really require any skill points spend in the Craft Weapon skill either, just an above average intelligence and a lucky dice roll.

Materials needed: projectile shaft, feathers

A successive result gives a stack of 20 arrows.

But I thought that all default crafting had been disabled in Aenea and replaced by Aenean methods?

I haven't played in a while so I could be remembering wrong, but I don't think disabled the default mechanics.

I just checked - using the radial menu gets one the announcement that default crafting has been disabled, and instead leads one to a tutorial on the various crafting methods in Aenea. I checked down my list of crafting, and arrows aren't on there. A good candidate for the suggestions forum, eh?

Good to know, Eric...and it is a good idea.

Potentially, it could possible be of value to add a crafting command and add to the current list here. Using it could create a masterwork quiver of mundane arrows. Then that could be used a a base component to enchant elemental arrows and other magical arrow types...well, just an idea anyway.

The only drawback I could think of for that suggestion... a stack of 99 arrows costs 1 GP, which is as cheap as anything cab be. If arrows take anymore than one 1gp component to make, it'd be pointless. The general point of crafing gear yourself is you can make it for cheaper than buying it from an NPC, with the only added cost a chance of failure from a DC roll.

I wouldn't want to pay double or triple the cost of an item just so I could have to travel to a workshop to obtain said item, and even then risk having it be ruined by a bad skill roll on the DC.

If the base Crafting rank was also mandatory as some other areas, perhaps allowing arrow crafting for free could be implemented? This would allow skilled artisans to create their own base arrows for nothing except for the cost of Skill investment.

I'd enjoy it if my manually-dextrous ranger could use her whittling and carving skills to make precision arrows, like +3, or even +5 arrows.

For just ordinary arrows, it wouldn't make sense for her to spend the time to make them herself. She would only be motivated to make arrows herself if they would be superior and special, at least more accurate.

I don't really know the weapon crafting rules in Aenea, but my toon engages in Gemcutting, and I like that Tradeskill method of using a tool to learn to convert some component to a finished item. A carving knife, obviously.
