Torso aligned helper template? Empty Torso aligned helper template?

Hey The Amethyst Dragon,

Do you happen to have a torso aligned helper template like the head aligned visuals you gave me?  I found another one somewhere a while ago, and I finally got around to loading it up in max.... but it appears to be just a human torso, and a human-sized aribeth torso.... which doesn't quite help me resizing/placing torso aligned VFX's for the other races Sad

I'm wondering because I've been making a backpack VFX for my module, plus I wanted to tweak the placement of your VFX quivers for a couple of the races (such as gnome... the quivers are a tad too 'close' to the body and don't have the nice spacial orientation as do the human and elf versions).

Sorry for the post hijack. Are there free or low-cost alternatives to 3DS Max? Or a way to get an older version for free or low-cost? The current retail is $3,700...

gmax, it's the freeware version of 3ds.

It's pretty much the same thing, but *how* you go about doing certain things is different, such as if I recall, exporting is done in a very PITA manner.

I do not have a helper template for torsos.  I should, but I've not made one.

Ok, so I went to make my own template... I extracted the human torso part through nwnexplorer, loaded into max with a copy of the quiver vfx...

And the torso is waaaay up on the z-axis!  What exactly is the VFX supposed to align with?

I am thinking that if I make a dummy "torso" vfx, and make it a conspicuous color, I could monkey around with it's placement by testing it in-game until I get it lined up right where the torso is..... but that's a LOT of monkeying at 2 torsos per 6 racial types.... O_o
